ok, ive been thinking about both of these players. i want to know what you guys think. personally, being as i am a flyers fan, im a little biased about pitkanen....his mental game is just not there and i dont know if he can succeed anywhere. what do you guys think? is he worth the gamble? hes very tempting due to his young age and obvious ability to score, but his mental game detracts from that....
bergeron is a huge question mark for me, i dont know what to expect. obviously hes not going to get the 70 points or w/e he wouldve gotten at the pace he had in NY, but will he be the player we saw in edmonton or the player we saw in NY? is he going to hit 55-60 points or 40....? having some difficulty here....which would you choose if you could have either? points based on goals and assists and .1 for shots, .25 for PIM....your thoughts...?

Well Primeau the reason you are having trouble deciding is because the potential for these guys is very close - probably the closest I have seen to a legitimate coin flip on these forums.
I think you need to go with Bergeron because of your concern for Pitkanen\'s head. It really is the only thing you have going for you in terms of making a decision one way or the other. Frankly if I was forced to chose between these two guys - I would probably get paralyzed in the decision making process.

Good call Shoeless, with the coin toss. I guess Pikanen could be heads?
Seriously, in a keeper pool, I lean towards Pikanen. I think Pitkanen has more offensive upside, but Bergeron is in a happy place. The coach likes him and Bergeron puts up points. If you are hesitant about Pitkanen, then go with Bergeron, you really aren\'t losing much if anything at this point.

Yeah Comish I would lean to Pitkanen too - but fear that is more of a hunch than based on realistic evidence. Seriously I do believe I might flip a coin and live with the result of it.

I think MA bergeron has a more upside. he\'s a really bad defender because of his offensive mindset and what a bullet this guy shoots like he\'s out to kill!!

Pitkanen is an easy choice for me. Most people compare his (Phily\'s) horrible year last year with M-A Bergeron terrific year last year. Compare their career numbers, then remember what Pitkanen is predicted to do my most hockey experts, and the choice is easy. Figure th same thing will happen to Souray in Edmonton this year as McCabe last year, when everyone in the league knew his tendencies... Kaberle had career numbers as they focussed on McCabe, Pitkanen will do the same as opponents worry about Souray\'s shot from the point.

Both play on teams that should finish well out of the playoff picture and score...well...less than a 40 year old virgin. That said, both have the potential to be one of the few bright lights on sad-sac teams.
Pitkanen\'s upside is much better, but at least for this year I also like the happy place that Bergeron is in in Long Island.
