hey all - first post here.
Every year it seems that 3-4 backups end up taking over the number one job in goal and put up strong fantasy numbers. In my keeper league, I am fairly set with Lundqvist and Miller, however we hold a reserve draft in which we can pick up only one goalie. With 14 teams - most starters are gone. Is there a backup or two you can see this year taking over the number one job and playing well? Will Emery be out long enough for Gerber to make some noise, or can Theodore in a contract year show any consistency in case Budaj falters? Other teams where I am not sold on the number one is Nashville, Tampa and LA. Thanks Shady Commish |

Bryzgalov - may be traded
Harding - in case Backstrom falters Osgood - Hasek is a band-aid boy Thomas - Fernandez may falter without his Minnesota teamates LaBarbera - may get the nod over Cloutier Niittymaki - Biron is unproven as a starter IMO Toivonen - Legace has had injury problems

thanks Digital.
My league only rewards goalie points (2 for a win, 1 for a SOL) and GAA - so guys like Harding and Osgood would probably be my best bet. Thanks again. SC |

Hey Shady
Scroll down to the \"school of block\" - we have a resident goalie expert. He might have some thoughts for you. Smith from the Stars might be worth a look as well.

I know Columbus doesnt have the best of teams but if your willing to take a chance, see if Leclaire is available.
But if Harding is available, grab him as soon as possible, i think Backstrom isnt that good and harding will take over as #1 half way threw the season and remain #1 for many years.

Labarbera, Harding, Halak, Wade Dube (NYI).
Those would be the ones I would look at personally. I might even think about Ilya Bryzgalov in case JS Giguere\'s injury isn\'t healed properly. Or Garon if Roloson faulters Post edited by: Stannic, at: 2007/09/08 16:22

I would suggest Halak, Bryzgalov and Smith for longshots

Brygalov is starter material and will end up #1 somewhere... Maybe Philly?
Prediction for 2006-07 season had him starting for the ducks!! I had picked him instead of Giggy, needless to say I got the shaft big time!! |
