I am in a deep keeper league...which of these two should I protect (I dont plan on having a championship team this year....)
Christensen, Armstrong(Pit), Handzus, Pavelski, Clowe, Brian Little, Cam Barker, Paul Martin. Thanks for your input.... |

hmmm... interesting...
I think I\'d go with little and barker. They both have tremendous potential and won\'t have to fight with an established player to make an impact on their respective teams... Also, both chicago and atlanta are free wheeling teams that can put up points (great for fantasy guys). In regards to the other options and why I\'m not to high on them: The pittsburgh guys: I know that crosby, malkin, whitney, and fleury will carry this team for years and will bring average guys along with them and turn them into \"stars,\" but I\'m not completely sold on taking guys just because they might play with these 4 guys. In a year, pittsburgh might need cap space and could dish these \"non-star\" players. What then? Zeus: He\'s almost thirty and he\'s on a team with a great future, but he won\'t be the \"top\" center past the mid-point of this year. He\'ll put up 75-80 points a year in the next few years, but his age and point ceiling in comparison to what I think barker and little are capable of brings my opinion of him down slightly. Pavelski and Clowe are both good players on a great offensive team, but I just don\'t think that either will play with thornton and cheechoo for an extended enough time to put up major points. Paul Martin plays in NJ (end of story). Defenders in new jersey that aren\'t named Niedermayer and Rafalski should be avoided like the plague. while Martin may get 40 points over the next couple of years, Barker could very easily get 60 or more in as little as 2-3 years (in my opinion). ---- In the end, very basic advice... if you aren\'t pushing for a championship this year or possibly next, take the youngest guys you have with the most potential as your keepers. While I don\'t dispute that ALL of the above players would be viable keepers, I think you should go with the young\'ins while you\'re \"re-building/re-tooling.\" Post edited by: lanky522, at: 2007/08/28 20:13

Barker for sure. I\'ll be a stud dmen within 2-3 years. Little is definitely a good option, but Handzus is tempting.

With a team that will not compete this year, the best bet is youth. Little and Barker is the best for this situation. They both will be playing this season.

Not to pile on but Little and Barker. They have what a rebuilding team needs, youth and major potential.

would have to agree with the general concensus of little and barker , especially if you are building, clowe is of interest as well and would do homework on him and barker to make sure barker is the guy you want long term.

I can\'t believe nobody has said Barker and Little yet!!
I\'ll say that Prime Minister Paul Martin will get more points over the next 3 years than Barker will. Little and MARTIN! |
