(It\'s a 5-team keeper league, regular season and playoff stats count, 4 D dressed per team. My current starters at D are Whitney, McCabe, Visnovsky, Redden.) I\'m thinking about possibly picking up Bergeron, but I don\'t really have anyone else I\'m willing to drop.
But going by Dobber\'s defense rankings, Bergeron is a better guy to have than Redden. What do you guys think? (my other option is to wait for the supplemental draft in a couple weeks, but I think there will be other guys worth picking up) Post edited by: Alex McDonald, Age 11, at: 2007/08/28 00:49 |

I would personally keep Redden for now. I have both in my pool but because of Redden being on a very offensive team while Bergeron is on the ? of a team, the Islanders, I\'d definitely stick with Redden.

Since plus-minus is one of your categories, stick with Redden. He\'ll have a bounce-back year and should be back in the + column, while Bergeron\'s plus-minus will be atrocious.

Keep Redden. Playoffs count and I don\'t think we\'ll be seeing the Isles in the playoffs for the next couple of seasons. Even though I think Ted Nolan might be able to sneak them into the playoffs, they\'ll still be fodder and out playing golf after five games.
Redden will definitely bounce back this year. He\'s not going anywhere this year. No trade clause and he wants to compete for the Cup. So unless he is enticed to waive his no trade clause by going to a decent contender, he\'ll be staying in Ottawa.

Contract year, on a team with better +/-, a team that will certainly make the playoffs barring a meteor striking the arena - Redden\'s the guy in this instance. Go with him.

since it\'s only a 5 team league, just go with redden for now...
bergeron will probably still be available later if you want him... if he\'s not... someone else fairly good should be available.

If this is only a 5-team league then there could be better options available than Bergeron or Redden. Shea Webber is a guy that may have slipped through the cracks. With Timmonen gone he\'ll be counted on for offense even more AND Nashville will not be as bad as many think. I think Nashville is still a playoff team easily.

Even in a 5 team league I would doubt that Weber will still be there. If so, DigitalMonkey is right. I would get him before Redden or Bergeron.

Yeah, Weber is owned by someone else. I put a link to all the rosters in my original post, so you can see which guys are already taken.
The next-best guys available I think are Campbell, Boucher, Markov, and the two Johnsons. But I assume Redden is a better guy to have than all of them. |
