Default Kessel for Marc Staal/JJ

Hey guys,

Keeper league 1 point for g, a except 3 for D man GWG. +/- counts for 1 point. This is strictly a reserve move but I need some D Men, I\'m also a little short on centre but just wondering if this trade is worth it.

I\'d be getting Marc Staal and Jack Johnson for Kessel and my first rounder in the re entry draft this year. Looking forward to the help.

Hello smack:

When you say \'it is a reserve move\', what are you saying exactly? Where is your number 1 pick located? 1,2,3..9? Knowing nothing about your team, nothing about your league, or the location of your number 1 pick, I like Staal and Jack Johnson for Kessel and #1. Really need to know more information in order to be able to give you a better opinion. You would definitely have two good defenceman. It has been said that Staal will be more of a defensive defenceman. I don\'t know if I buy into that completely. It is early in his career and he will want to keep up with the bros. The Rangers will bring his offensive game along.

My thoughts.

Yeah sorry for not being totally clear it\'s just you don\'t want to ramble on. But my pick would be 7th in the round (8 total).

By reserve move I mean these guys would be in my farm team, as would Kessel. I have my starting line up but just trying to get stronger for the future. I heard about Kessel being the real deal it\'s just that if Johnson and Staal could have a serious offensive or even +/- impact in the next couple of years I would do it.
Hope that helps. Thanks for the advice.

Hello again smack:

I don\'t know enough about Kessel to give you an accurate assessment of his play. I note that Dobber forcasts that his upside could be as high as 100 points, long term, but forcasts that he will score 14 goals and 43 points this year.

Jack Johnson has a predicted upside of 65 points long term, scoring 11 goals and 44 points this year.

Dobber predicted in the Prospects Guide that Marc Staal has a predicted upside of 15 goals, and 50 points. He has predicted 3 goals and 24 points this year.

Could you ask for an upgrade on Staal to a more offensive defenceman?

I definitely like Johnson. If you can\'t get an upgrade on Staal, then I think you might be giving up to much, in Kessel and the pick. There would probably be a defenceman available to you with the 7th pick that might serve you just as well, i.e. Cory Murphy, and you are able to retain Kessel.

My thoughts.
