I have to give up one of them in a trade.
It\'s a keeper pool, 1pt each for both goals and assists. Who\'s better long term? Obviously I want to keep the better of the two. Short-term looks like Stastny, as Kessel may be another Thornton that takes a few years. Thoughts? |

Kessel\'s got more of an upside, I think of the two he\'s got the most skill, but Stastny\'s proven that he get the job done in the NHL. I\'d bet on Kessel, I think the real deal, just depends on whether you want to gamble.

big_dl...I disagree. I think Stastny is the better player with more of an upside. Kessel will be a good player, but I think Stastny will be one of the top players in the league.
I think Kessel will be a 75 - 80 point guy whereas Stastny will be a 100 point player. I\'d definitely choose Stastny over Kessel.

I\'d go with stastny...
kessel was the proclaimed first overall pick the year before the draft and he faltered and was drafted later. He plays on a more defensive team and in less of a role playing capacity than stastny does. Kessel has already had health problems that could jeopardize any players career, and there\'s no gaurentee they won\'t come back. stastny set a record as a rookie for longest points streak. Malkin, Ovechkin, Crosby, Kopitar, etc... none of them did this. The biggest test for young players is to prove their consistancy. Stastny has already done this. He plays on a much more offensive team than kessel does, and has mentors like smyth, sakic, hejduk, brunette, and turgeon (last year)... whereas kessel\'s mentors are savard, sturm, murray, and a 22 year old bergeron... Nothing against kessels mentors, but most (if not all) of stastny\'s will likely end up in the hall of fame at some point. I think stastny\'s the best bet, because while his upside is \"lower\" (supposedly), he\'s got a much better shot at reaching his ceiling (and possibly busting through it) than kessel does, as far as i\'m concerned.

I\'m surprise how you guys are so high on Stastny, he got just one good year. He will be good but I keep in mind how some pooler was so high on Marek Svatos.
Good rookie year his follow by the second year jinx

Hello colin \'et al\'
I would go with Stastny. I am with Monkey and Lanky here. I think that Stastny is going to be a better player than many have projected him to be. He is going to be a star, just like his dad. My thoughts. |
