With 22 man rosters you do this. Keep anywhere from 16 to 22. For every player you don\'t keep, you get a draft pick. So if everyone keeps 16, it\'s a 6 round draft. Make sense?

A lot of people seem to like that idea, I kind of do too.

Let me know what you think.
I have discussed this idea with a couple of the guys and my suggest it for our pool. I like the idea of lowering the # of keepers, but not forcing everyone down to the #.

In my case it would be a suggestion to drop to 20 players and drafting 10. however if you only wanted to drop to 23 players you would then forfit your first 3 picks.

I would go the opporsite way. I think lowering the number of keepers helps the powerful fantasy teams. The more keepers available the more chances for the last place teams to hit a homerun on a prospect/young guy. I know I would be a better team right now if I hadn\'t had to choose between keeping Eric Staal or Nathan Horton before the lockout (I was wrong).

If you want to shake thing up, maybe a rule like you keep 25 players + your rank in the pool.

One other thing that you might want to think about is carrying your rosters into the playoffs.

Tack on another $10 or so, specifically to go towards a playoff winner.
Carry over your rosters from the regular season and see who wins in the playoffs.

If the other owners can\'t beat you in the regular season they can at least try to win something in the playoffs by trading for players on teams that have a better chance of making the playoffs. Some owners will have a lot of guys make it, others won\'t but you won\'t know until the playoffs start.
And even then, a few upsets and some roster get depleted very fast.

No guarantee that a dominant regular season team will win the playoffs.

And you don\'t have to change the rules for the regular season to do this.

Interesting that you think keeping more is better, we do currently keep 25 because I wanted people to be able to carry prospects for the long term. We all know how long a Defenseman can take to reach his potiental (Phaneuf being an exception)

I like the playoff suggestion peekNpoke. I am glad I posted this topic, I have several good ideas to bring to the guys for a vote this year at the draft. I\'ll should only propose 1 or 2 changes, I don\'t want to make too many changes at one time.
