I am being OFFERED VANEK for DATSYUK straight up in a trade for a keeper pool. I never saw much of VANEK last year what do you think?
The guy that wants Datsyuk also has T. KABERLE who I would like. I am thinking of packaging to get KABERLE. DEF 2G 1A and FWD 1G 1A. Please evaluate these trades from both sides. 1. TIMONEN, DATSYUK for KABERLE, VANEK 2. SCHNEIDER, BIEKSA, DATSYUK, SEMIN for KABERLE, VANEK, 1st round pick Post edited by: Hitmen, at: 2007/08/20 02:46

I prefer the straight up datsyuk for vanek as opposed to either of the package deals that you offered. I think you could probably even get him to cough up a later pick as well. Wingers are harder to come by than centers and vanek and datsyuk are more or less even. Vanek should be within 10 to 15 points of datsyuk this year. And will close the gap in the years to come especially as Roy gets used to being the #1 center. With the number of quality d-men you could be putting back into pool keep another forward, i believe someone suggested Michalek and draft d-men.

I like this deal a lot, especially if you have positional requirements, since wingers are harder to come by than centers. But the biggest plus is that Vanek is 6 years younger and so potentially has twice as many productive years ahead of him than Datsyuk, and Vanek\'s maximum production won\'t be far away from Datsyuk\'s.
With respect to your other suggestions, I like #2 since Kaberle is an upgrade on Timonen, both age-wise and immediate production. Your #3 I don\'t like as much because I\'d want to hang on to Semin. He\'s got huge upside. Since the other guy made the initial offer, I\'d counter with your Timonen/Kaberle suggestion and see what happens. If he accepts, you win the trade hands-down, in my opinion. Good luck! edit: I noticed in another of your posts that you might be in a salary-cap league. In that case, that knocks down Vanek\'s value a bit due to his monster salary. To tell you the truth I wouldn\'t do either of the trades. I think Datsyuk will hit the 90 point mark easier this year than Vanek. Vanek this year will play against the top d-men in the league while last year Briere took away a lot of that pressure from him. While Datsyuk plays with Zetterberg and the limit is sky high. Plus you won\'t regret keeping either Timonen or Semin after this season!!!

VANEK had the most points for the least amount of time on the ice. But your right he didnt draw the top Defensive partners. I still prefer DATSYUK over VANEK but wanted independent opinions from both sides to make sure I wasn\'t becoming \"attached\" to \"my players\" because VANEK was put at 86 by DOBBER and 90 by HN.
With my defence I have unknowns with a number of them that are effecting everone of them...Gonchar loosing luster to Whitney..Schneider gone to a new team, Timonen gone to a new team, Poti gone to a new team, Pitkanen gone to a new team, can Bieksa repeat. KABERLE would be a constant if I could snag him. I don\'t think he will release KABERLE without the dangle of DATSYUK (who he asked for). I have no POSITIONAL issues in the pool. Just FWD, DEF, GOAL. So winger of Defence dont matter. Salaries are our own salaries and they are based on performance. Start at $5 as a rookie and Max at $25. We have a $235 limit with the posibility of a 25 man roster including bench players. It is formula that calculates the players points and awards a dollar figure taking into consideration injuries/PPG. If I draft a 87pt player say DATSYUK I will most like pay $16-18 for him. However if I picked him up as a rookie and paid $5 the most he could go p every year is $4. They have to get so many points to move up to each dollar level. Sounds complicated but it isn\'t. Each dollar is also formulated. Every year even if your player has a bad year aka FORSBERG, ELIAS he will stiill go up a min of a dollar. So if a player is held onto regardless of his performan he will hit MAX. Better players hit max faster. If you trade he he holds his value if you dump him into the draft the player is reset and evaluted just on the last year. Forces movement in the league and stops players for holding the best players forever. Example. Both SEMIN and BIEKSA were $5 last year and may go to $7 if I keep them. I throw him in the draft he would be about $10 to get back. Because they came out of nowhere to have a good year. Elias or Forsberg would come down if but in the draft. It is worth it to pick up up and coming players off other guys before they go into the draft because they may cost more later. All to encourage participation and movement. VANEK($6)and KABERLE($9) for DATSYUK($13) and TIMONEN($11) Post edited by: Hitmen, at: 2007/08/20 11:23 Post edited by: Hitmen, at: 2007/08/20 11:25 Post edited by: Hitmen, at: 2007/08/20 11:26

After putting in the salaries that does change. You\'re saving $9 on just a slightly (if that) downgrade. On that note, I understand why you would want to and should go ahead with that offer.
