Default Keeper Pool: who to keep? HELP NEEDED....

Hello and thanks in advance to anyone helping me on this. To set the table:

No. of teams: 13
Keepers: 7
Reset: No - ownership is forever
Scoring: Regular Season Points
Goals = 6
Assists = 4
+/- = 1
PIM = 1
PPP = 1
Wins = 5
Losses = -2
Goals Against = -2
Shutouts = 10
Saves = .5
Positions:
C = 3
RW = 3
LW = 3
D = 4
G = 2
Bench = 6
Draft: Straight draft, i will pick 10th in every round.

Now, who to keep:

Thornton, Joe - C
Spezza - C
Pavelski - C
O\'Sullivan, Patrick - C
Geztlaf - C
Ovechkin - LW
Tanguay - LW
Kunitz - LW
Clowe - LW/RW
Perry - RW
Clark, Chris - RW
Bertuzzi - RW
Bouwmeester - D
Carle, Matt - D
Johnson, Jack - D
Neidermayer, Scott - D
Phanuef - D
Lehtonen, Kari - G
Denis, Marc - G
Leclaire, Pascal - G
Nabokov, Evgeni - G

off the top of my head i know i am keeping:

Thornton, Ovechkin, Spezza, Lehtonen, Getzlaf, Phanuef

who is my last keeper?

ps. i am trying to swing a trade for Crosby by giving up Thornton/Spezza, Tanguay, Nabokov and Neidermayer (if he doesn\'t retire) and either another player or pick. realistically i give the chance the other guy takes the deal to be about 5%. but if it does happen it makes my decisions a bit easier.

any thoughts?

Which goalers are still available? Personnally I\'d keep Nabokov over Lehtonen even though he\'s older. Depending on which goaler is available, I wouldn\'t even protect one.

Assuming Niedermayer is retiring, I\'d keep : Thornton, Ovechkin, Spezza, Getzlaf, Phaneuf, Jonhson and one of Bouwmeester / Tanguay.

I agree with your pick Promethee, but I would still keep Lehtonen over Bouwmeester or Tanguay. Yeah he has a injury background, but in the same time he\'s still so young.

I\'d take Bouwmeester for that final spot. I think he\'s a future Norris trophy winner and it wont be long before he\'s breaking 60 points a year.

I would keep

Thornton
Spezza
Ovechkin
Tanguay
Phaneuf
Bouwmeester
Lehtonen or Nabokov

Getzlaf is a center and his production at that position is replaceable far more easily than Tanguay\'s is as Tanguay is a LW.

Using the same logic as blindedbyfear, and assuming the goalies available are limited, I would favor keeping both Lehtonen and Nabokov. Considering your pool setup, it\'s almost a 50/50 split between players and goalies in terms of stats that count. Therefore, good goalies have a much higher value than any 1 player since they\'ll automatically contribute to all 5 categories whereas it\'s very difficult to find a player that can contribute to that many categories.

No matter what Jonhson needs to be protected. The guy is a blue chip and will dominate for over 10 years.

I\'ll say that that\'s one way to think as well, and I would not dissuade you from doing so. Thornton / Spezza / Ovechkin / Tanguay / Phaneuf / Lehtonen / Nabokov would be pretty formidable.

One thing we might as is how do you do lineups? Are they set daily, weekly? 1 goaltender active, 2 goaltenders? If it was 2 goaltenders active I\'d definitely say keep the 2 goaltenders.

we run daily changes, with 2 goalies actives every day/game. goalies are at a premium in this league, and i have considered keeping both Nabokov and Lehtonen, but i am not confident that Nabokov will play well with no competition, the way he did 2 years ago. i have been trying to trade up to get Fluery as well, so far no dice. getzlaf is a must keeper for me, but i do understand that i have too many centres.

thanks for all the ideas.

if your not comfortable with keeping nabby why don\'t you try to put a package together with him in it and some of your spare parts and try to find a GM with a goalie you like who is in need of the players you have available. might save you the trouble of having no confidence in nabby and solve your excess player problem at the same time. just a thot.
