I am in a semi keeper pool were expanding, G=2, A=1 and +/- = +1/-1
Anyway I have to unprotect 6 players for an expanison draft, yet only a max of three can be taken F- Crosby F- Kopitar F- Radolouv F- Beregron F- Perry F- Nash E- Richards D- Whitney D- Carle D- Phanuef D- Visnovsky G- J.S Giggy My Thought: The obivous, Crosby, Kopitar, Whitney, Phaneuf other two thinking Nash, Beregron both young experienced ready for a major break out season Now with Giggy the thing is the 3 expansion team can only take one goalie and these are the only protected goalies (Volcoon, Brodeur Miller, Nababov, Luongo, Dipeitro, Turco and Kipper) do think he will be overlook? Who should I keep and who should I risk losing |

I don\'t think Giguere\'ll be overlooked considering the team he\'s playing on.
I\'d protect : Crosby (lucky you :side: ), Kopitar, Radulov, Bergeron, Whitney and Giguere. How does your expansion draft goes? Can you protect more players after the first round? If so, you could salvage Phaneuf. Post edited by: Promethee, at: 2007/08/15 16:11 |

First of all let Giggy slide, there are better goalies out there in my opinion with Bryzgalov still in the mix in anaheim cutting into his time....Id protect sid, kopitar, radulov, whitney, and phaneuf for sure....Richards doesnt score goals, Perry\'s too far down in the depth charts of the best team in hockey, and wont see PP time, Nash plays on the worst team in the league with no one to set him up,Visnovsky gets hurt way too much. So that leaves bergeron and carle, id go with carle, bergeron\'s plus/minus in boston is goign to be terrible for a while till they turn things around.
hope that helps!!! |

Wow, that\'s an excellent list. These are some difficult choices.
I\'d predict that if you left Giguere unprotected that someone will probably grab him, along with Lundqvist and MA Fleury. However, if there\'s only the list you gave plus 3 goalies protected after the expansion draft you might be able to snag a decent goalie with your first pick. I guess it depends on your scoring for goalies and how much value they have relative to forwards in your league. I also think you\'d be crazy not to protect Radulov. I\'d take him over Nash, Bergeron, or Richards (all who are excellent players very much worthy of protecting). To me, Nash is the wildcard. If he can regain his 50-goal form, he\'s gold in your league. However, this is a somewhat risky proposition on a Hitchcock-coached Columbus team. But the potential is definitely there. The other thing that depends on your league\'s setup is whether or not it\'s worth it to protect 2 defensemen. Definitely Whitney and Phaneuf are studs but depending on how many D you\'re required to dress, it might not be worth protecting one (or even both). |

Well, I think the easy choices to protect are Crosby, Kopitar, Radulov, Whitney. Then it\'s a bit harder. Giggy is still very good and I would probably take him. The last choice is between Bergeron (horrible +/- and I don\'t see that improving on that team), Richards (should improve this season), Nash (just too much of a risk), and one of the Dmen. I think it depends on how many positions do you start and how many teams. I would lean a little toward Vishnovky (plays for an up-and-coming young team with a lot of fire-power).

Thanks guys for the help
we have a 25 man roster we can dress 6 -Forwards 4- Defence 2- Goalie 1- extra (D/F) points G=2 A=1 +/-=+1/-1 Goalies are W=7 L=-3 T=0 Also if anyone has any suggestion to revamp the Goalie scoring or even player scoring let me know |

You definitely have an unconvential goalie scoring system.
I\'d say to get rid of the negative points for the loss, reduce the points for a win, and add a certain number of bonus points for shutouts, shootout losses, and possibly even assists. Just some things to think about. |

I would unprotect Carle, Bergeron, Perry, Nash, Phaneuf, Visnovsky. Phaneuf may come as a surprise, but overall I think he is overrated from his rookie season. I don\'t think he\'ll ever have the fantasy impact that Whitney will. Richards is the guy on the bubble, but I don\'t think you should replace Visnovsky for him. Nash has proven be terrible since the fifty goal year. Bergeron isn\'t getting much better on Boston\'s second line. Perry and Carle are obvious. If you wanted to drop Giggy, which wouldn\'t be awful, it would depend on who is in the goalie pool for next year. |

hello,
I would keep F- Crosby F- Kopitar F- Radolouv D- Whitney D- Phanuef D- Visnovsky Maybe some people wont agree but you got to have a strong defence to win in a keeper league. Good goalies and good fowards are easyer to find then a solid defencemen that produces. This is my opinion. MDM |

Aside from the obvious 4 I would keep Nash. Goals are worth 2 and he is a goal scorer. He is only young, and CLB has to surrond him with talent sooner or later. I wouldn\'t let a former Rocket Richard winner (at the age of 22?) go back into a draft where goals are a premium. His +/- will be better with Hitch there.
With the other pick I would look at Phaneuf and Giggy, probably leaning towards Giggy - but keep in mind he just had surgery and may not be ready to start the season. Bryzzer may just challenge for a job and put some doubt in Burke\'s head. Post edited by: Cartman, at: 2007/08/16 14:06
