I honestly cannot even fathom the thought process they are putting into this. I think it\'s a case of everybody gets pissed off when a superstar is traded and it\'s not to them, so they automatically cry foul. The only way Datsyuk/St. louis don\'t out point Malkin/Havlat this year is if Datsyuk and Marty retire......tommorow...
Really don\'t want to step on toes, but it just irks me to no end, when a perfectly fine trade is made out to be the greatest lube job in history.[/quote] You nailed it. Other GMs get POed cause they didnt get in on it

i think its great the way you handled this situation Puck. you took the problem to a neutral site where no ones feelings are hurt and you can get an honest opinion of the sitaution from people who know nothing about the circumstances of the veto. i think these guys shud be forced to come to this site(altho that might be bad for business lol) and be forced to read every post done on here about veto\'s. karma for you for having brass balls and not being worried about what the other GMs might say.

To be honest most of the GMs in the league are pretty knowledgeable. I think the trade took almost all by surprise - myself included. I suspect that most (other than the normal league knob) regret the negative posts they wrote in the trade thread.
Some GMs were upset that they didn\'t know Malkin was available. That the GM should have shopped him around. I\'ve generally found that if you were interested in a player it is better (and less expensive) to inquire before he is shopped publically & the bidding wars begin. Nothing I like more than overpaying because I waited for the bidding war to begin.:woohoo: I just want all GMs that find themselves in this situation to take a step back & look at trades with an open mind rather than trying to force their views & values on other GMs. I may value Player X more than Player Y does that mean my trade of X for Y is stupid because you see Y more valuable than X. Constructive criticism is fine. Flat out bashing is going to pissed off GMs & a crappy league.
