I was offered Getzlaf for Cheechoo straight up in my keeper league where points are even and gwg is an extra 2points.

Thoughts?

Ohhh boy... I would think about this one. Cheechoo should outscore Getz by about 20 and get atleast 8-10 more goals this year. But Getzlaf can play only as good as he wants. If the other guy adds some good picks I would almost consider this deal..

Also why don\'t you offer 2 for 2.Maybe one of your bottom players for one of their middle players aswell. Try and make the deal as best you can for yourself.

Hello Smack and Zorro:

I don\'t mind this deal. Getzlaf is 5 years younger than Cheechoo, albeit Cheechoo is only 27. Getzlaf scored 25 goals this season, Cheechoo 37. Cheechoo will probably play alongside of Thornton. Getzlaf will be with Perry and ?, with Penner having left for Edmonton, but their line looked awfully good.

I like Zorro\'s idea of trying to do a 2 for 2 to give you a better comfort zone for the deal. Like I say I don\'t think the deal is bad. You definitely would have a starting point.

i own getzlaf but would be tempted by this offer, so do your homework , check the responses here and make your decission.

I find that a lot of people seem to under value Cheechoo after last season.
There is no way I would give up Cheechoo for Getzlaf. Don\'t do it.

Do not do this trade. Even with a pick thrown in it would be hard to see this is a close trade. Cheechoo is a 90+ point player already and Getzlaf is years away from that if ever.

Everyone seems so quick to say not to do this trade. Lets face it, Cheechoo was booted off Thorntons line mid way through the year last year for not producing. How can you not produce playing with Thornton if you have 90 point potential. I would make this trade straight up because I don\'t think that Cheechoo will play with Thornton all year anyways. Getzlaf will be a 90 point player without Thornton, so I would be taking him. There is no reason not to try to get a draft pick as well in this trade. Cheechoo should be considered worth more right now because he is likely to play with Thornton. Try to get a 1st or 2nd round pick thrown in and take the offer no doubt. Or even a good prospect. You will be glad in 2 more years when Cheechoo is playing on the 2nd or 3rd line in San Jose and Getzlaf is flying high with The Ducks on the top line with Perry and Ryan!!!!
