Default Veterans with Staying Power

In my keeper league we need to release to free agency one of our top 4 fantasy point getters (points and +/- only) and one of our top 10. This means that the older high producing players are very important to ensure that you have someone to cut loose in your 4 and 10 that isn’t a top young fantasy stud. This also ensures that there are always some very nice players available in free agency, which we bid on using FA money (every team starts with $20 FA per year, but through trades I’ve gained considerably more). The only issue is that you can’t cut a retired player who finishes in your top spots although he does retain is position. This means that if Hasek (for example) finishes in your top 4 but retires at the end of the year, you now only have three players to cut from!!!

With that in mind, which of these following players do you see playing for at least the next two years: Sakic, Lidstrom, Sundin, Hasek, Tkachuk, … (feel free to add other good veterans with some staying power)

Lidstrum Sundin Sakic. Hasek\'s one bad stretch from retirement. Tkachuk\'s an enigma. He really seems to have lost the fire in his belly he had in years past. A few too many bad injuries have taken their psychological toll on him. He\'d be the wildcard in my opinion.

How about Brind\'Amour? He probably won\'t give you more then 70 pts, but as Dobber said, he probably have to more years like this to offer.

Nylander signed a 4 year deal so he\'ll be around for a while. he can get you points and may be a dropable guy for you. he\'ll be 35 this year so this is probably his last stop.

not sure how this type of player fits in for you but just a thought.

Good call Lute! I totally forgot Nylander. Playing with AO will definitely make him a good pick.

Chicleteur, hey bud, I think before Brind\'Amour I would want A.Brunette.. But Nylander is a great option, it should be his last stop but playing with Ovech will be great for his point production for the next few seasons..

Zorro. How long do you think Nylander will be on the first line with AO.My prediction maybe all of this year but the year after it\'s Backstrom\'s time.

I know the comment wasn\'t directed towards me buuuut...if nylander and AO gel then \"fogetaboutit\". why change the chemistry when they can have nylander and AO, then Backstrom and semin? The only other options I see are nylander not clicking with AO, AO preferring backstrom, or they have enough depth in the next 4 years to move backstrom to the wing. either way hello powerplay!!
