Default Holmqvist or Toskala

In my keeper pool I have to drop one in order to make room for expansion.
It\'s a tuff call because Holmqvist is only on a one year deal and Denis and step up and take his at any moment, same goes with Toskala, where Raycroft and steal the gig as well. Then you got to put in mind Tampa is a better team and will put up more wins then the Leafs. Thought Toskala will be in Toronto for the next 3 years as Holmqvist might not even have a job next season.

I have to go with Toskala as well.

I have a feeling that Denis (despite his horrible numbers) can take his job back better than Raycroft.

Also, TB finished with 93pts vs TOR\'s 91. The team performance gap is not as wide as you might think.

Just to be different. Holmqvist. I think BECAUSE he\'s on a one year deal he\'ll be motivated to take over the number one gig on TB. Denis isn\'t really a huge threat, no more than Gerber is on Ottawa.

Toskala is going to discover what it\'s like to play under the big tent circus named Toronto. Raycroft did have 37 wins (also an ugly .894 save% and 2.99 GAA).

I have a feeling that Raycroft (despite his horrible numbers) can take his job back better than Denis.

I just have a feeling about Holmqvist and Tampa will be even better than they were last season. I do think the Leafs will improve as well and I do think that Toskala will be the number one there as well. I just like Holmqvist\'s situation better.

To be honest if Raycroft could put up those stats

(GP W L T Min GA SA SO GAA Sv%
72 37 25 9 4108.3 205 1931 2 2.99 .894)

as a leaf last year on a team that doesnt even make the playoffs then in my opinion Toskala should do a good chunk better. The only thing to consider is that Toskala will most likely only start 60 games. But even at that level i wouldnt expect him to eclipse holmqvist\'s numbers.

When you consider Raycrofts numbers and the fact that he was probably exhausted through the last 20 games, I could easily see Toskala with 35 wins and better overall numbers.

The Leafs should also be a better team next year.

The defensive core should be improved just from the experience that coliaccovo and White got last year,Kubina has to have a better season and the competition for spots should push guys to play smart.

The forwards are similar, maybe a touch better with the addition of Blake but definitely no worse off.

Maurice should also be able to hone his system now that he has had the core group for a few years.

Mix all that up with a diminished Buffalo team in their division and the leafs should definitely post comparable if not better numbers next year.

Toskala might even thrive back in a hockey mad city. He might enjoy being in the paper everyday and seeing his flashy glove hand replayed 40 times a night... who knows, goalies are all odd.

Toskala has a track record, he finished with 1 less win than Holmqvist, had 3 more shutouts in 10 less games.

He will be given every opportunity to bring a little glory to leafland. He might even make JFJ and MLSE look.... well, good... go with Toskala.

considering what the leafs gave up to get toskala and bell, not to mention the contract extension, I think its safe to say they are going to give him more than enough chances to retain his spot. Possibly could look to move raycroft or sit on him as insurance. I think toskala is the guy, and based on what I saw from the tampa goaltending last season you would be better of with either of the two in toronto. Think about it, they could have gotten just bell for less, but IMO no one trades picks like that for a decidely back-up goaltender.

easy decision for me. toskala.

Toskala is the better goalie so take him. Besides, both Holmqvist and Denis struggled last year and are better suited as backups. Me thinks Tampa will make a trade for another goalie this year so go with Toskala.
