Default Trade Help

In a H2H keeper league, we keep 2C,2LW,2RW,4D,2G. 12 teams. There are a lot of categories, G,A,P,ppg,ppa,ppp,+/-,pims,shp,sog,fow,gwg.

MY- M. Bergeron and a 10th rd. pick
HIS- S. Kozlov and K. Bieksa

My current keepers at LW are Nash and either Erat/Brown and D are Niedermayer, Rafalski, Corvo, and Bergeron.

The thing is that I am in a re-building stage as I took over a team in last place. Kozlov only has like 2 more solid seasons left and I doubt the rest of my team will improve that quickly. Also, I am not 100% sold on Bieksa as being the PP quarterback. Bergeron is my only young defenceman and that position it pretty thin already, especially if Neidermayer retires. Personally I think Bergeron could get up to 55 points this year if he continues to play like he did at the end of last season. Or is his stock at the highest now? Is this deal too good to pass up?

Thanks

Hello Joos:

Firstly, I would trade Niedermayer. I think there is a good chance that he will retire.

The points for Bergeron and Bieksa were comparable. The 10th round pick doesn\'t impact you at all. Obviously the other guy values Bergeron much more than Bieksa.

As for Bieksa. His role will continue to expand. I think he will be the pp qb.

I would really try to work the Niedermayer thing. Would the other guy go for Niedermayer for Bieksa? If Niedermayer doesn\'t retire he gets potentially the highest scoring defenceman in the league while you cover yourself in the event that he does retire. Or could you work this deal to include Niedermayer for something else. I would really try to work that part of the deal.

other than the Niedermayer issue, should i still take this deal? Is Bieska gonna be the man in VAN and how much longer does S.Kozlov have?

That deal looks to be a no-brainer. Bieksa will continue to see LOTS of ice-time and Kozlov still has at least two productive seasons left. Bieksa has the potential to be a 50 point/150 PIM guy.

Take the deal. Bieksa will be the man in Vancouver. Bergeron (27 in October)is actually a year older than Bieksa (26 in June). Bieksa will put up alot more PIMs for you than Bergeron with his aggressive style of play. The talent in front of Bieksa is better than what Bergeron has to work with. I can see Bieksa improving & Bergeron falling back into his Edmonton form (defensive lapses & a horrible +/-)as he tries to do to much for the talent thin Isles. Even if you don\'t like Kozlov he has 2 good years left in the tank playing with 2 of the top talents in the league in Kovalchuk & Hossa. That looks like a better bet than a 10th rd pick. If you don\'t want him & decide to flip him someone will probably pony up more than a 10th rd pick for Kovalchuk & Hossa\'s teammate.

As for Niedermayer trading him is a good idea. Don\'t dream in technicolour looking to score a top talent in return. Knowlegeable GMs won\'t fall for that. A lot of GMs going for it this year will often take a chance with a conditional pick. If Niedermayer comes back it won\'t be for long - 1, 2yrs back. If you can get draft picks that would be good. One guy in my league traded a 1st rd conditional pick that changes to a 3rd if Nieds retires. A 1st rd pick in a 12 team (24-man roster, 11-keepers) league team is good but a 3rd round pick for a retired guy is also a nice return.

S Kozlov by far, as Nagy in UFA again next yr and his injuries combined with lacklustre production really knock his value.

You are killing him in the deal, take it and run.

I can see this trade working for both sides - I think you did okay though. I happen to be one of the few who isn\'t completely sold on Bieksa and I do believe Bergeron is only going to get better.
