Default Luc Bourdon

I picked up this guy in a panic last year right at the deadline cause I needed depth on the backend. Just wondering what kind of timeline he is on- will he play next year? What kind of production can I expect?
Thanx for the help.

I think you\'ll be waiting another year before he\'s fulltime especially since Nucks signed Miller.I hear rumblings that they may move Ohlund but even then Edler will probally be ahead of him.

I think this topic came up awhile ago. The Canucks are way too deep on D to get Bourdon into the big show this year. Salo, Ohlund, Bieksa, Mitchell, Krajicek, Miller are likely their guys, subject to the Ohlund trade rumours coming true (I think those rumours are crazy, but that\'s another topic). Edler has already been in the show and was solid, so probably a call-up goes to him, or possibly Coulombe, as the Nucks seem to like him for some reason.

Ultimately, they would rather that Bourdon log big minutes instead of stagnating with 3rd pairing minutes, so I would all but guarantee a full season with the Manitoba Moose. I\'d also note that Miller is the only one of those 6 I listed who will be unrestricted at the end of next season, so unless a trade actually happens, Bourdon may get somewhat few minutes even if he gets to the show in 2008-09.

There\'s a decent chance that if he impresses in camp that they will give him a few games at the beginning of the season, but he\'ll be sent down soon thereafter. This team has a deep D corps and unless 2 of the top 6 go down with injuries, Bourdon will stay in with the Moose for the whole season. They want him to develop and he won\'t get the minutes if he\'s stuck in the #7 spot. The Nucks tend to be very patient with their prospects, sometimes excruciatingly so.

at this point, I think he is trade bait.

He was drafted because of his supreme skating skill and mobility, and the Canucks figured the hockey sense would catch up. He sustained a nasty high ankle injury and hasn\'t regained his full mobility yet. He will probably be given time to grow in the AHL, for at least one more season. The Canucks are set at defense from one to six, and Alex Edler is ahead of Bourdon on the depth chart.

I have heard that the Bruins were interested on several different occasions. He\'d be a good fit there if they ever actually swung the deal.

not sure what Boston would send back. Vancouver would like a top six forward (no, not Glen Murray).

I like Kobasew but I don\'t think he has the upside to justify moving Bourdon.

That\'s why I phrased it that way. Only two I can realistically think of are Lashoff and Stuart, but I don\'t see them letting go of either. Krejci\'s promising but not that promising.

Yeah and to think they could of taken Kopitar with that pick..instead of Bourdon!
Nucks seem to have a little trouble with the draft thing.
