Default More BS from Eklund part ii

\"Updated 3:54

There is a rumour out there that there could be a deal in the works that would send Redden to San Jose for Patrick Marleau\"

wow. just wow. because there is nothing SJ needs more than a defenceman, and nothing ottawa needs more than a topline centre.

I wonder if Eklund actually even tries to use reputable sources or if he just throws names into a hat and picks from them...

Firstly, WHY would Ottawa get rid of their best defender at a point when his value is the lowest it\'s been his entire career?

Secondly, Why would Ottawa want Marleau when they could very well have cap troubles as soon as next season (when marleau, heatley, spezza are all free agents)?

This \"trade rumor\" just reaks of San Jose speculation... I\'m sure they\'d love to have Redden there to provide stability to their blue line, and I\'m sure they think he\'ll waive his no-trade clause to come there, and I\'m sure they\'re tired of having marleau around when he quite obviously won\'t be sticking around next season...

But san jose doesn\'t always get what they want. This one has got to be a rumor straight out of the mouth of Joe Shmoe \"Sharks Fan.\"

Yesterday when we were sitting down for lunch with Gery Bettman, Ray Bourque and Wayne Gretzky (they all flew to DC to meet with me), Mario Lemieux told me that Eklund has Miss Cleo on speed dial. Mario didn\'t fly here to meet with me, of course. I\'m not that important... not like Eklund. He just stayed in town an extra day to see me.

Riiiiiiight. B)

I gave up on that place during the trade deadline when he broke the news that Ryan Smyth had signed with the Oilers.

He\'s a joke.

I go to his site when I need a good laugh, but it usually just ends up making me angry, so maybe I should stop.

He\'s just posting rumours, not instigating them. So what if the rumour doesn\'t make sense, like Redden for Marleau? He\'s not playing GM, he\'s just speculating on rumours.

I like his site; I find the team bloggers have some interesting opinions and it\'s always interesting to read about teams you may not normally follow. As for the rumours, it\'s all fun and games and I don\'t take them seriously.

As for the Smyth signing, I think Eklund owned up to screwing that one up. How often do the major networks botch a news item like that? It\'s not foreign policy, it\'s hockey.

Besides, they\'re RUMOURS - take it with a large grain of salt.

I just got back from a 2 week trip to Honduras. There sure were not a lot of hockey fans there. Glad to see 1 here!

His posting rumors is not why we ridicule him. His blogger-on-a-powertrip tendency to pretend he\'s having these high-level meetings is what makes him so ridiculous.

he charges people money for his site and gives them the impression that he has hundreds of intimate contacts in the hockey world. that\'s pretty damn dishonest.
