As a Hemsky owner I am obviously concerned. For a few minutes there it looked like he might get a chance to play with Vanek which would have been great (even as a Vanek owner I would have suffered the drop in Vanek’s production in exchange for the bigger boost to Hemsky’s). Now it is looking really bad in Edmonton for Hemsky and he has something like 5 years left in his current deal. He is obviously their best offensive player but not good enough to carry a line on his own.
Am I going to be stuck with a diminishing asset for the next few years? I can\'t trade him for anything worth while at this point. What can of points can I expect from him next year? Is this the last time we see Hemsky in Dobber’s top 30?

reveeta - hang in there.
You can still have good production from a player on a bad team. Think of the early years for Nash, Lecavalier, Heatley/Kovolchuk (in ATL). I never trade an asset when their value is at the least. Hang onto him, he has youth and you have time. If he hits a hot streak you\'ll be rewarded with the tough decision of keeping him or trading him.

I just can\'t see Hemsky ever fulfilling his potential in Edmonton unless they can pair him with a legitimate sniper. With so many young assets and picks, one could imagine that GM Kevin Lowe will make a trigger and hopefully acquire a good scoring threat because I can\'t see anyone on this team scoring 30g next year. Perhaps Edmonton could take a chance on Zherdev?

I like where CronoX is going but I think a guy like Zherdev is the last thing Edmonton needs. There are a lot of negative headlines coming out of Edmonton lately but they made a smart trade with Philly and am I not ready to puch the \"Edmonton panic\" button yet.
Last year I would have given quite a bit to get Hemsky on my squad. Obviously now I wouldn\'t give as much but I still believe him to be a valuable fantasy asset. Patience may be the key with this guy, he has too much talent to become worthless. Post edited by: Miqualle, at: 2007/07/08 18:34 |

Hemsky will get it back. He needs some quality support. He will regain his confidence and start to shoot in stead of passing the damn puck all of the time! Sorry about that.
He will be back! |
