12 team H2H.
W, GAA, SV&, SHO Currently, I have Howard, Schneider, Halak, Fasth. Come fantasy playoffs, I want to be down to 3 goalies. Sitting in 1st-2nd in my league. Fasth's injury is mysterious, and Hiller has recovered from his early season woes. Is this a move I should make? |

Tough call! I watched the Ducks / Stars game tonight and Hiller looked great, I don't see any way Fasth beats out Hiller. The Ducks are looking to make a run and will want Hiller as their guy. Lehner looks good but Ottawa without their stars is Ottawa. I don't think you can make a terrible decision either way.

Lehner is in a similar position as Markstrom in Florida. Both are good enough to play full time in the NHL today but the team situation isnt favorable to them due to their contracts. Both Ottawa and Florida have their #1 guys out with injuries, which is the only reason Lehner and Markstrom are up in the NHL today. Once those starters come back, I believe both will be back in the AHL for this season.
You dont have any league info in your signature so I dont even know if you have a minors system or not to store Lehner in. If you don't, I would keep Fasth. Is it a keeper league or one year??? You say you want to be down to 3 goalies. Why not trade one of them and get back some valuable assets for your skaters?

It's a 1 year league. I've been trying to trade a goalie all season, but it just hasn't happened. Also, I'm worried that I might trade, say, Schneider, then Luongo gets moved and I could've had a great No. 1 netminder. Right now, I really need SV% and GAA consistency, which is why I was considering Lehner. Seems to be steady. Fasth WAS that consistency for me, but now he's injured. Halak/Schneider have been up and down and I'm not sure what to make of them right now.

Fasth's injury is minor. He was taking shots already yesterday.
Also -- Boudreau loves him. He'll be back soon and should resume at close to the 50/50 split he had previously. He doesn't let in the weak goals that Hiller has either. As for Lehner... touch to nail down if he's worth anything. Bishop is still around and when Anderson returns it'll be Lehner who returns to the AHL. So keep that in mind moving forward. |
