Default Backlund or Turris?

With Backlund coming off the IR, I have to make a decision about my final center slot. G,A,+/-,PIM,PPP,SOG,HIT. This year only.

My other centers are Crosby, Stastny, Roy, Brassard. We dress 4, weekly changes.

So, does Turris pick it up? Or is Backlund a better option for the rest of the year? Wire is pretty thin, but I could always go with some PIM or hits if neither of them have anything left in the tank this season.

I'll help ya out. I've watched a bit of Ottawa, not too much of Calgary.

Turris was helped out a lot by guys like Spezza and Karlsson. Now that they're gone, he's finding a harder time to do more offensive things because now he's responsible for taking defensive shifts, which he isn't the best at yet because he's still young and adjusting. I don't see him getting better this year; also, he just had a really hot start.

I like Backlund...he has a lot of potential IMO and Calgary likes him more than their other prospect, Cervenka. He's never gonna get 1st line this year but he might squeeze some PP1 time.

From what I've seen, Turris is usually getting line 1 duties and top pp. However he hasn't done anything with the opportunity. He is just very unlucky, taking lots of sog, but nothing is going in. For the span of one year I see both of these players on par. I have Turris, it's hard to keep him for his lack of production. :P Feel your pain.

I'd go with Turris, while his numbers haven't been good, I think all he's needs is to pot one goal to get the monkey off his back, he hasn't scored, but it's not for a lack of trying. He's getting oppertunities and he's getting minutes. Even if he doesn't start up soon, I don't think Backlund will be all that much better, and then once Spezza is back, you can hope that Turris goes back to producing in his more secondary role.

Thanks, guys, food for thought. I think I'll drop Backlund over Turris for two reasons - one, as pointed out, if Spezza comes back, Turris could benefit from less coverage. And two, we count plus minus - there are only two plus players on the Flames, and I have a feeling they could finally be sellers this year down the stretch, too. Ottawa, while they aren't scoring a ton, are still playing solidly in spite of their injuries. So, while Turris may be sleepy for a while (or for good, let's be realistic), at least he won't be dragging me backwards.
