Skating is always a good sign, I hope he is back for next week... I am currently in second and want to stay there for the by playoff week.

I actually have a little bit of suspicion that the Pens are giving him a breather over the next week to avoid some "tougher opponents".

Tue: vs. BOS
Thurs: vs. TOR
Sat: vs. NYR
Sun: vs. BOS

Those are four of the rougher teams in the East.

I'll peg his return date as:
Tue Mar 19th vs. Was (@ PIT). They've also got a bunch of games at home coming up - so they may also just want to give him a rest from travel.

But it just seems like he's only a little banged up. Maybe just banged up enough to give him some time off without making him seem like a wuss. (Not that he is... but the Pens can beat some teams without him and they'll make the playoffs... so keeping a guy from cracking is more important at this point.)

My 2 cents.

Pens' coach Dan Bylsma wouldn't rule Evgeni Malkin (undisclosed) out of weekend home games against the Rangers and Boston, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
Edit: but also found this on twitter

I came here thinking there's news and then this, pointless drivel. I want my 20 seconds back.

How about this....sort of an update:

Evgeni Malkin (upper body) skated Sunday morning but will not play against the Boston Bruins this afternoon.
Malkin has now missed the last four games with what is believed to be a shoulder injury. There is still no timetable on his return.
