I just made the following trade to land Rinne in a 15-team (keep 10; 1 G) league:

I give: Brunner, Heatley, Gogs, Okposo, Boedker, Wideman, Hiller & Lehner

I get: Rinne & scraps (Konopka, Pyatt (both), Adam Larsson, Emelin, Latendresse, Griess

Goalie stats have been my biggest challenge for the last few years, so I wanted to try and land an elite goaltender even if it meant that I give up multiple keepers and decimate my depth to land one. He has Craig Anderson, so getting Lehner made sense as well as it gives him a choice come keeper time depending on how that plays out in Ottawa.

My keeper list will now be: Backstrom, Stamkos, Hall, Ryan, Pacioretty, Stewart, Suter, Fowler, Rinne and an unknown for my last spot. I have Killorn, but may look into trading Markstrom for a keeper option as well.

So, what's the consensus? Good/bad/crazy?

Landing Rinne is great, he will definitely improve your goaltending. That said, you gave a ton up to get him. The one thing I would have wanted to keep would have been Lehner, but I understand that that was probably a deal-breaker for the other guy. If you can keep Markstrom I would definitely hang onto him. If you have to release him anyways then shop him. But having Rinne and Markstrom going into next year would put my mind at ease. The Panthers are better than they've been showing, mostly because of all the injuries, and they will be competitive next year.

I lost a lot of punch when it came to my 10-keepers, but a good goalie has kept me from contention for so long that I felt it was necessary.

I'm happy because it really helps him out too. His offense was pretty paltry so next year he should have a good young promising keeper group and still has his choice of Craig Anderson or Lehner to keep at goalie. I had no shot to win this season, so I feel like next season I'm automatically thrown into contention by having a guy like Rinne.
