So the GM rejected Parise for OEL straight across last week. I am still interested in getting OEL so I'm trying to find a deal to make this work, but I'm aware that I'm in "shoot myself in the foot territory" here.

Now I was thinking Parise + Faulk for OEL + avg. foward (maybe Stastny)

My line of thinking is that although I like Faulk he's probably not going to be a keeper for me, so it still boils down to Parise for OEL. But this way I give the other GM a young d prospect back which I know is what he's looking for.

Am I getting in over my head and offering up too much here?

I Don't know man...to me...this is just a convoluted way of asking for the same trade of which he's already rejected.

You may derail further talks if you keep massaging the original offer to essentially just be the original offer over and over.

If you REALLY want OEL (and totaly understand if you do...) I'd try and overwhelm him with a larger multi-player deal.

I have no idea what his roster is or what he needs/can offer you/ but considering your current position (of which you want to avoid slipping) and who you prospective Keepers are (I feel it's ok to think out your Bench if there's a player you feel will trully be a difference maker down the road for your team.

I'd try and offer up Parise or Lecav as well as Campbell (who's relevant now...more so than Faulk) and 1 more player.

E.G.
OEL for Parise
Stastny for Briere or Weeler (As I doubt Granlund gets kept in your league)
Insert reasonable return for Campbell

Gauge his interest on the larger deal and see if you even have a willing dance partner. If so...then massage from there...scale back (likely). IF not...quite simply don't waste your time druing the season. You'll only over pay or frustrate yourself/him.

The other GM is a friend of mine in the league, so I'm not worried about offending him or making the trade talks go South. We throw out trade ideas to each other all the time.

Basically he's told me he doesn't really want to move OEL, but his team is in desperate need of a guy like Parise. I feel that I can still get him to make a deal involving OEL if I make the offer just sweet enough to entice him to pull the trigger.
