The way I see it is... I'd rather have Semin that plays with Staal... than Hall that plays with Nugent-Hopkins??

If neither are keepers then Semin.

Well, then we need to mention Semin's "issues" too...he is a flight risk to the KHL since he's only on a one year deal and the majority of his career (when he was not playing for a contract) has included alot of lackluster effort, poor attitude and flat out quit...I think Brouwer's comments from WASH spoke volumes about how Semin was seen by his teammates...maybe he's had a total reboot in Carolina, but my father used to always say, "few tigers ever change their spots".

Since this is essentially for this year only as you don't intend to keep either Hall or Semin, I would grab Semin.

Semin's current shooting percentage is 7.6% compared to a career average of 13.7%. This is likely to even out over the remainder of the season.

I am a Canes fan and have watched most of the games this season. Knowing Semin's "rep" coming in, I have been impressed by his back checking and work on the line with Staal and Tlusty. Not saying 20 odd games erases several years of reputation, but Semin seems a little happier not being so much in the "spot light."

Since neither are keepers for you, I would want Semin. Semin will help you more this year than Hall.
