All this streak talk pisses me off too.

There is no streak. They have lost games, which makes them losers.

Yes. A couple of years back, it was Montreal and Philly. Weren't they seventh-eighth?

Never count a team out in the playoffs. It all has to do with favourable matchups.

Yeah... and did they win the cup? Oh wait.. they didn't.

You answered your own question... it all has to do with favourable matchups, and there are a LOT of potential favourable matchups in the East because there are so many shitty teams.

Your original quote was "Can you imagine any of the 5th-8th seeds in the East making a serious run at the cup?"

Getting to the finals and the final four is a serious run at the Cup, I think.

I guess we have different definitions. To me, "a serious run at the cup" means a serious run at the CUP... not a cinderalla run deep into the playoffs only to get blown out of the water in the finals by a superior Western team.

This thread has gone way off topic, sorry HF.

I have responded to others' comments and explain my reasoning when queried. But I'll leave it there.

I'm loving this... first time I've ever seen HF knee-deep in something controversial on these forums

Now all we need to do is drag Shoeless into the mud...
