This is where I stand on it. I hate hearing the term "Unbeaten in Regulation".

I still can't believe how they pulled out the W last night. When a bumcrust like Dan Carcillo gets you the GWG in the final minute of the game (wtf is he doing on the ice in the final minute)...you know the hockey gods are on your side.

I think the important thing to focus on is that they've gotten a point in every game. 45 out of a possible 48 points. THAT'S impressive!

Yes - it certainly is impressive. Even if it was just based on their wins - 42 points would be awesome as well.

If this streak were happening before the shootout was ever invented, they truly would be "undefeated". period. over 24 (a la the Flyers streak), so in that light, is it fair that you are taking credit away from them (even though you say you're not) for this truly incredible achievement (which we likely won't see again in our lifetimes) just because the league arbitrarily invented the shootout to attract more fans?

As MD would say... Buzz Killington everybody!

Agreed this is very impressive, and should be recognized. But is it significant if a team has an unbeaten in regulation streak of 25 games and 20 of them came in a shootout loss or a loss in 0T? I would say NO.

I don't think the definitions matter. It is what it is and they're getting a ton of points in the process.

Glad I added humour to your day.
How are you not doing it when you are doing your utmost to argue that they're not worth all the praise or that the feat is not that impressive? You ARE doing just that. It's the same thing as when someone says, "I don't want to step on any toes here, but **** you all" or "no offense, but you're fugly".

Not necessarily, as overtime could have been played differently if they knew it could end in a tie and the result could have been different. But I give credit to them since they haven't lost in proper overtime, and I do respect your point.

Great discussion - I don't always take part in debates so glad I started something!

I am entitled to my opinion on how it's defined - perhaps it's not as important to many of you - but I do recognise (as mentioned above) that all three losses were in the shootout only so that is really impressive not losing outside of a skills competition so far this season.

Lol that would be something, wouldn't it? 5-0-20... that would be good for 8th place in either conference right now.

For the record, I've never agreed with the loser point, but the Hawks are putting on quite a show right now no matter how you look at it.
