True.
There IS another goalie theory that I subscribe to: "First Year Annointed #1 Pressure = Failure".

With Lindback, TB signed him to be their #1 goalie.
There's no surprise that he is failing right now... mostly due to pressure.

With Markstrom, there's no pressure right now.
He's coming in to replace their injured starters.
As far as the generic "fan base" is concerned he's just some kid coming up to replace their main goalie who is injured.

The rest of us, here on DobberHockey, have huge expectations for him because we know he has talent.

But there is a distinct "pressure" separation between his position (little pressure - he's just the 3rd goalie) vs. Lindback (lots of pressure as #1).

I expect Markstrom to play well because if he can't save the sinking ship... it still won't be his fault that it sunk.

Good points, Pengwin. Not to hijack the thread, but is that an endorsement for Markstrom over Lindback the rest of the way? I'm currently trying to work out a deal for a reliable, #1 goalie, but is it worth me to drop Lindback and add Markstrom for now?

I'd have to figure out to do with one of them once Kipper comes back, but in the meantime...Markstrom is just...sitting out there...waiting...

I'm gonna disagree with everyone here.

Ellis is a solid tender and he's looked good in relief of Ward so far this season. I like carolina much better than Florida and Columbus so wouldn't even think about officer bobrovsky (who's played brutal thus far) or Markstrom (who I think is strong but the team in front of him just isn't enough). If Anderson was going to be out longer I'd go ahead with Bishop - I've liked him this year and he is a very solid tendy but with Anderson coming back - took shots on Friday. Lindback has been an absolute mess of inconsistency.

I like the Ellis pickup and that's who I'd go with.

Sorry to hi-jack the thread, but what if Garon is thrown in the mix? Still Markstrom and/or Ellis?

With all this Markstrom hype I'm thinking of dropping Brown to grab him, especially if Brown goes cold again. Or maybe even Clarkson if he continues to crash.

If you need starts I'd go with Ellis. If not then pick Lindback or Markstrom.

Lindback is injured and unproven.
Bobrovsky is okay but on a really bad team.
Bishop is great, but Lehner and Anderson makes his role on the team confusing.
Markstrom is the bonafide starter guarded by one of the worst D in the league.
Vokoun is the Elliot of Pitts.
Who's Mcdonald?
Mason is comparable to DiPietro...and Rick is in the AHL atm.

If you want to preserve your SV% and GAA, go with Bishop.
If you need starts, go with Markstrom.

Edit: I see Ellis is in the mix now.
My rankings:
1. Ellis
2. Markstrom
3. Bishop

For the person asking about Garon, I would put him 4th here.
