What's the general opinion of him around these parts? Have been offered him in a deal but don't know much on him to be honest, outside of he's 2nd in team scoring in the A

Unless he's a filler piece on a multiplayer trade I wouldn't bother. He's not a great playmaker in the NHL, but will be a 30 to 40 poin guy in a regular season.
