Default Looking ahead.. keep 6

2nd sig.

Looking way ahead but I figure I can trade one or 2 of these guys who I sadly won't be able to keep. I design my team very well and constantly win HITS/BLKs (an overload perhaps)

If you could keep 6 given the format who do you keep?

RNH, Yakupov,E. Kane, Clarkson, Backes, Kesler, Parise, Ryan, Landeskog

Obviously I'd love to trade 2 or even 3 of these guys for Crosby but that has been a tough sell.

I'm thinking RNH is playing himself out and he doesn't fill a ton of categories.
Kesler because he can't stay healthy and Clarkson?

Really looking to see what others think to gauge trade value. I'm pretty sure on most other teams all of these players would be kept but I had a very solid draft :P

I keep RNH, Yakupov, Kane, Parise, Kesler, Landeskog.

Sell high on Clarkson in this format. If Perry ends up moving I may consider keeping Ryan over Kesler, but at this point I think you can let Backes and Clarkson go from those 6 seeing as you have Kane and Landeskog.

Clarkson and Ryan would be the guys I would try to trade at this point. Clarkson is cooling down, but he's still surrounded by a lot of hype. Ryan should have a good value as well.

After that I'd be debating between moving Kesler or Backes. Kesler is finally healthy but seems to be a perpetual injury risk and Backes plays for St. Louis, where points are tough to come by. I certainly don't think you need both of them. That said I'd keep Kesler and shop Backes. He has huge value in multi-cat leagues (it's too bad you don't count FOW) and you should be able to get a solid return for him. Kesler carries the stigma of injury with him and won't get you much by comparison, but if he can have a healthy season next year he'll be just as valuable.

So my 6 would be: RNH, Yakupov, Kane, Kesler, Parise, and Landeskog.

I agree with HockeyRobot and bizzl that Clarkson is definitely not a keeper. Even if you can't trade him, he's the most likely to be under-valued by your competitors and thus the easiest to re-draft, while guys with more name value due to touted potential (eg Yakupov) will likely be over-rated.

In terms of getting Crosby, in a keep six there's almost no way I trade him for any package you could put together. He's young enough that even if I'm drastically retrenching, his production isn't going anywhere in the interim, and the chance of two or three (or probably even five or six) of your players providing enough of a step up from my current six to compensate for the step down I'd take at number 1 center is miniscule.

Doesn't the second league in your sig say five keepers, not six?

P.S. You abbreviated "Utility" as "Ult." in your sig.

It does but we are expanding it to 6 I believe. Crosby is a pipe dream but you never know it could happen (the guy who has him doesn't have much else).
I'm kind of surprised that everyone is saying RNH. I fully understand his upside but he isn't a strong multi cat guy.

I wouldn't keep RNH, Clarkson and Kesler

RNH - has a high point ceiling, but his peripheral stats are weak and will be weak for the foreseeable future.

Clarkson - since you are keeping Backes, Clarkson would be redundant

Kesler - injury history are red flags. Let the other GMs roll the dice on him.

To me EK, Yakupov, Backes, Parise, Ryan, Landeskog will provide you a good balance of high end scoring and roto stats.

Perhaps approach the Malkin owner with a package now....or the Ovechkin owner for a lesser package
