Default is green even worth a keeper spot?

I was offered a trade of essentially green for phaneuf. I'm doing a retool after being riddled with injuries... is there any reason to conisder this trade? I don't really want another injury season, I'm getting sick of them... every year I lose 2 or 3 big names and it costs me first place..

is green worth it over phaneuf even ignoring the headaches?

Yep, I think he is. Phaneuf isn't anything special in my books.

Their point production is essentially equal this year. Maybe Phaneuf has him by a point or two.

But Green's ceiling is waaaay much higher in my books. Realisitically equal production today, much bigger potential tomorrow.

Here are my thoughts on a similar topic.

I wonder how many of Green's owners have actually watched him play this season? Reason I ask is, I owned him during the glory years. He was pretty unreal. I held onto him during his injury plagued years, and kept hoping he'd return to that form.

I read all the reports this off season about how healthy he was, and how great he felt. Whatever. Proof's in the pudding. I decided I'd watch him play. I've got Centre Ice, so I made a point of watching a bunch of the Caps games early on.

He plays a lot. He gets a lot of PP time. He is NOT anywhere close to the same player. And now, to top it off, his injury troubles are returning. I'd advise any owner who still holds out hope that this guy will ever approach the point per game fantasy days of the past to just let go.

With your scoring, Phaneuf is probably more valuable than Green and more likely to finish the season healthy. The Green owner who has offered you the deal has his fingers crossed hoping you accept. I wouldn't do it.

Good luck!

While I agree with Chico re: Green's ceiling being much higher, I agree more with bumchilly (previous Green owner too) on all points...Green is just not the same guy nor will he likely ever be again. I would take Phaneuf in this deal.
