Default Studs & Duds - Sunday 2/24

Studs N’ Duds – Oscar Edition

The winners for the best:

“Holy Sh?t – Did I just see that? Award Goes To: Zdeno Charo. Charo was at his best last night showcasing himself for the next season of Dancing With The Stars. This nimble giant of 6’9” 255lbs delighted NHL fans with his gracefulness, his balance and his attention to detail in performing the incredibly difficult Spinorama move resulting in a goal. All that was missing was a cute pink tutu outfit.

“Concussion, I don’t have no stinking Concussion!” Award Goes To: Corey Crawford. Crawford who returned to action last night playing for the first time in 4 games made 28 saves in the 1-0 shut out victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets. After the game Crawford thanked his teammates for their strong play but wondered why he had to wear all this heavy equipment for a NBA game?

I thought you retired! Award Goes To: Francois Beauchemin. Beauchemin who secretly came out of retirement last night helped the Anaheim Ducks beat the Colorado Avalanche 4-3 in overtime. Beauchemin picked up 4A in helping the 2 fantasy owners that own him in their hockey pools win their H2H week. Beauchemin trying to keep it altogether said it was only possible due to the strong performance of his supporting cast as both Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry each had 3 points each.

The winners for the worst:

“What did I do to you coach? Award Goes To: Roberto Luongo. Luongo who is off to such a great start this season had a night to forget. Luongo gave up 8 goals on only 28 shots in the 8-3 loss to the Detroit Red Wings. After the game Luongo wondered what he did to piss off his coach Alain Vigneault as Vigneault did not pull Luongo and decided to leave in nets for the entire game? In other news Cory Schneider could be seen smiling all game from the Canucks bench.

“Its Not Over Till I Say Its Over!” Award Goes To: The Calgary Flames Fans. Trailing by a goal with less than 2 minutes to go in last nights game against the Phoenix Coyotes, most of the Calgary Flames fans decided that it was a better idea to leave early and beat the rush to the parking lot than to stay to the end of the game. What a mistake that was! Jerome Iginla tied the game with a 1:23 left and Curtis Glencross scored the winning goal with 1:00 remaining. All those fans that left early missed the Flames best 30 seconds of hockey all year!

Reese’s Pieces:
Damien Brunner - 2 goals, 2 assists, 4poins, 5 shots, 2 PIM
Sidney Crosby - 2 goals, 1 assist, 3 points, 5 shots
Steven Stamkos - 1 goal, 2 assists, 3 points, 2 shots, 3 hits – Leads NHL in scoring
Jarome Iginla – 2 goals, 2 points, 4 shots, 2 PIM
Beau Bennett – Beau knows hockey, score first NHL goal
Paul Bissonnette – 1st 2 game point streak of career in 146 Games Played
Calgary Flames 4th Line – Plays a combined total of 10:17 despite scoring first goal of game
Mike Smith – Gives up 5 goals against the Flames one week after shutting them out
Anders Linback – Pulled after the first period giving up 3 goals on 10 shots
Henrik Zetterberg - 1 goal, 2 assists, 3 points, 1 shot
Niklas Kronwall - 1 goal, 2 assists, 3 points, 2 shots

LOL, I was one of those two fantasy owners that owned Beauchemin and he won the week for me! Nothing is more satisfying that watching Luongo get shelled, except maybe watching James Neal hightlights. The only losers in the Calgary/Phx games was the Flames fans, kiss that lottery pick goodbye if they keep this crap up.

Really? 3 pts a piece and no mention of Datsuyk or Zetterberg? Beachumin's 4 a worth more of a mention than Brunner's big game? What kind of bias is this!

I added Zetterberg and Kronwall to Reese's Pieces. Datsuyk only had 2 points.
