Default Burns

League in my sig. I could really use another dman and Burns is a guy I might be able to acquire. Would that be a stupid move? I've got an offer out of Okposo and Nikitin for him - too little/much? Any views appreciated. I don't like his high salary but in my position I can't afford to be too choosy.

I dunno, I'm on the verge of dropping Burns myself. I'd like to see a little production from the guy. The Sharks have been struggling since he got back, do hopefully it's not a real indicator of what Burns owners should expect.

One response which is down on Burns and doesn't really answer my question. I take the lack of responses as a sign that people don't think Burns is worth acquiring!

Burns for Okposo and Nikitin is a good deal.

Nikitin is a very effective D-man but his fantasy value isn't as high as his real-life value. Okposo is a bust. Go get Burns and don't give up on him.

I wouldn't trade Burns for Okposo & Nikitin, but it's worth a shot.

I agree with yougo. I think its a good deal. Burns is just off to a slow start but this kid is in a good situation in SJ. He's gonna help run that PP for years to come.

Okopso and Nikitin is a good offer to send, in a 24 team league, that's bound to interest the other owner, in giving up a slumping Burns who just came off the IR. To me it's absolutely worth it, if Burns plays up to the level he's capable of, it's a steal of a deal, and if he doesn't then all you gave up was a couple of marginal players. Even if Burns doesn't shape up, he's still probably nicer to have around then Nikitin.

Yes I would want Burns, so I would not give him up for those two.

Is Burns really going to start clicking anytime soon though? Boyle plays the same side as Burns. It also seems SJ usually rolls 4 forwards on the PP.

I agree it has more upside than the package you'd be shipping out, but I just wouldn't count on Burns reaching a level of production seen earlier in his career either.

Was able to catch the Sharks/Blues game last night. Must say that I thought Burns looked pretty bad out there. His timing and instinct just seem to be a bit off and he committed a few horrible turnovers when facing little (if any) pressure, leading directly to high quality scoring chances for the Blues.

That said, in a keeper league I'd acquire Burns in this deal if one can do so. I actually like Nikitin's game quite a bit from a fantasy perspective, but I'm still a believer in Burns (he's only 27 years old) and think this is a good buy low opportunity (again, focusing on the keeper league aspect of this). Will he get his head out of his arse this season? Who knows really, but I do think acquiring him now is a good move. Boyle still looks fantastic out there, but the guy ain't getting any younger (much to my chagrin as he's been the anchor of my blueline for about 7 or 8 seasons now).

Just my two cents.
