Im absolutely befuddled. Look at my team in sig (below)...
What do I need? Where do I need help? Last year, I finished tied for first place. This year, I'm getting punked by some punching bag teams. Why? The team is essentially the same. Additions - Gagne, Hedberg, Ekman-Larsson Subtractions - Larsson, Lidstrom It's a short season, so moves need to be made pronto, if any. Please help.....Where do I need the change?

Gagne's gotta go. Schwartz too - how does your farm work? Can he be on it? Who are the top FA guys available?

Seems kind of obvious to me Chico, and good news is I'm thinking it's a matter of time before you get out of this funk.
- It starts with your goalies, Hiller/Halak/Howard is a very nice trio, but this year they have been producing more like middle of the pack goalies than elite ones, and Howard's facing more shots than ever before with Lidstrom gone and all those injuries on D. Once Halak gets over the groin injury and Hiller regains his starter's spot, you're laughing. - At C, you have Kesler out and not much depth at all, Malkin alone can't make miracles. Kesler coming back will help. - On the wings, you've got Eriksson, Giroux, Iginla, Alfredsson all underperforming big time compared to last year, and Nash and Duchene are not making up for it. - On D, you've got Byfuglien who's performed but has been out for a series of games, Suter and Carlson have had mediocre starts fantasy-wise, and Green / OEL not making up for it (although OEL has been great). Add it all up, and in any given week I'd bet you lost by one or two points in each category, and that's why you're down. I really wouldn't worry about it too much or make drastic moves, in your ase I'd probably stay the course for awhile longer unless a great deal comes along. Patience is a virtue for a reason!

Farm is exclusively for players in the minors.
Other "top" FA'ers include.... (according to O Rankings in Yahoo) Prust, Neil, Ott, Dubinsky, Doan, Kopecky, Stepan, Bieksa... As we can see, pretty slim pickings.

I'd add Stepan for sure, and then one of Doan or Bieksa.
Drop Gagne and Hedberg.

Here's the thing, you've got a lot of under-producing players right now but if you make reactionary moves now selling low and buying high then by the time it you are needing to compete in the playoffs your team is gonna be stripped down and underwhelming again.
I'd suggest you need to show a bit more patience but definitely make some moves on the edges. Any borderline waiverwire players that aren't producing have to go but keep the core intact, they'll turn around eventually. You might need to make some moves in goal. Goalies are one third of your scoring so you need some production there and with Hiller and Halak down you are relying on Howard who is mediocre.

Well, let's start with this: The LA Kings win a Stanley Cup when they barely make the playoffs! Not only that, they pretty much dominate and easily roll to a championship. Shit Happens! You have a decent team, but you don't have an incredible team. My breakdown as follows:
C - E.Malkin(rw)/R.Kesler/B.Boyes(rw)/J.Schwartz Malkin is the only stud here, and yes, Kesler has had good years but the injury has hurt, we'll see. Boyes is a weak wild card at best, actually having a good year so far but naahh, Schwartz is a prospect in a deep system. I rate your C as a B- LW - B.Ryan/M.Duchene(c)/R.Nash/T.Fleischmann/S.Gagne Something is not right with Ryan, same last year, same with Duschene; Nash, well he's still loolking like a 60 -65 point guy, the Flash and the magic of that first line last year has faded and Gagne, cut bait. This group is a B- RW - T.Selanne/C.Giroux(c)/L.Eriksson(lw)/J.Iginla/D.Alfredsson/ Selanne is, well Selanne and all is good, Giroux, absolutley yes WTF, Eriksson is good, damn good, Jerome is not inspired. older, and ready to move on, perhaps retirement?, Alfie, same. B D - M.Green, A crap shoot, and it's not looking good D.Byfuglien You can't ask for much more, will he continue on the current pace? All is good. R.Suter Ya, not a good start! This willl work out. He is not a super star though. O.Ekman-Larsson The future perhaps yes, today, ahhhh J.Carlson Another Cap D sure thing?? Not. I have no idea what is wrong with Green and Carlson but, it's been a couple of years, it's not what everyone thought it would be! B- G - J.Hiller By no means elite to begin with, may have lost the top gig already J.Halak, not elite, 1a that's shaky, 1b ya , weird situation in ST L J.Howard/ Not elite, good team, franchise goalie or even close, not Hedberg, OK, you need to fill a roster spot. I'm being hard on you here, but to expect this team to compete for a championship in consecutvie years is IMO a bit of a stretch. I hear ya, the stars aligned last year but the reality is that, well, the stars aligned last year. There are problems here. Some should fix themselves, but at this point, I would think you need to consider moving some questionable pieces for better options. I'd start by going after a top 10 Goalie. My next objective would be a legit young forward to replace Selanne, Alfie, Iginla. Duchene, Ryan, Nash and even Kesler are nice pieces that could be used to go after uprades. Green, Carlson..same. Hope this helps.
