Interesting dynamics, been reading a bit more about this story.

Sounds like the coach was playing freshman/sophomores over junior and seniors as the team will be moving into a new conference for 2014-15, and the priority was preparing for the jump to a new conference. Perhaps their younger players have earned their TOI, or maybe it's politics at play, not too sure.

Apparently the coach's son is the sophomore starter on the team over the senior goalie who scored the own goal. Guess the kid wasn't too happy being benched in his senior year, when he has been the starter with his team-mates since even before highschool.

Some of the other seniors knew the kid was gonna score on himself, and were on board with it from the beginning.


Regardless, the whole thing sounds dysfunctional to say the least.
