One year league, I wouldn't bother particularly given your league settings (i.e., dressing 3 full lines -- which, I assume means positions matter -- and 4 D-men). He'd probably never get a sniff of your starting lineup given the quality and depth you have on the blueline.

Your team D is loaded, Gardiner is not better than any one of your D, and you have more D on your team than you need, there's absolutely zero need for Gardiner.
You should be looking to upgrade at forward by trading away some of your D, and once you do that you can revist adding Gardiner to your team.
