Team in sig. Cap league. Multi-cat stats. I've been debating moving him all year. This offer just came up. I know I'm selling low, but with the cap dropping significantly next year, I won't have room for both Ovi and Malkin. I've gone after a few guys and no one is moving. Nobody wants him and his cap hit with his production. What do you guys think?

Thats tough one. It seems like a decent trade. Your D would get a significant upgrade and you still have Malkin, Tavares, etc. If you honestly dont feel Ovie will even be himself again, which at times doesnt look likely, id consider the trade. I think youd might be able to get somekne younger than Chara, but he still has great production for a dman.

Im in a similar position owning Ovechkin in a cap league at $9 and that contract expiring at the end of this season. Its a tough decision.

I've been working on a similar deal. I just don't think Chara is enough of a return. If Ovie's game picks up you should be able to get Chara +, but 1 for 1 I think your selling him way to short, down year or not. And he is picking it up of late...maybe hold off a week or two he can't get any worse only better then your options open up. Keep in mind Chara hasn't exactly been on fire either....you should be able to get another piecec to this.

That's the problem. We follow their real cap in the NHL. So he's worth 9,5 million for pretty much ever. I'm really not sure what else I can get. This might be the only offer I get. I've tried to move him last year as well and no one wants him. The fact that I could get Chara, I find, is good. We also keep 8. I have at least 9 guys to keep. I could possibly move Chara before Ovechkin in the offseason.

I can understand why you want to move him, but your cap issues will come up next season, so you can easily wait another 4 or 6 weeks and if he gets hot in that time, you´ll get a much better return.

I know it´s frustrating to have any Washington player at the moment, especially in a cap league, but try not to panic now.

i agree with this one, your cap issues arent affecting you NOW, and OV is looking like he may be turning the corner. Wait until the season is over or close to it and move him then.

the issue becomes, the other GM (possibly if they are smart) know your position and may try to take advantage of the fact that you NEED to move salary...

I think I've decided to keep him. Thanks for the replies. Let's hope Inge turn around and he becomes the guy that everyone wants again.
