In Yahoo! standard (plus hits), 12-team league, given the option would you rather have:

C Malkin/RW Backes/ D Pietrangelo/ and G Corey Crawford

OR

C Crosby/RW Kassian/ D Chara/ and G Varlamov?


I feel like Chara>Piet, but Crawford>Varly, hard to say at the moment if Malkin+Backes is > Crosby+Kassian.

I pretty much agree with your assessment of Chara vs Piets (although its close and only getting closer) and I also agree that I like Crawford more then Varly but thats mainly based on the teams they play for. I dont see a lot of difference in them skill wise.

Looking at the rest of the deal, today I would take the Malkin/Backes side. Theres little doubt that Kassian has a lot of potential but he's still pretty raw. AV moves him around a bit in the lineup so his real value comes when he plays with the Sedins and that doesnt always happen. I'd rather have the proven assets of Malkin/Backes over the proven Crosby and potential Kassian.

I'd take the Malkin side of this trade but its a fair deal for both sides.
