Karlsson took 9 shots on goal tonight (accoring to CBS, Dobber's pool manager has him with 11!). With that impressive display he takes the NHL lead for shots on goal. There is a chance that Kessel retakes the lead tonight, but it si very impressive nevertheless.
A defenceman leads the league in shots. EDIT: CBS has changed their tally to 11 shots on goal.

There is no defenceman that is even in his class. He's in Crosby's class now. Nobody has the puck more than Karlsson. He's literally a quarterback out there.

Yeah, he's okay I guess...a little tougher sledding out there without a top C to help take off some of the offensive pressure though. Karlsson has been crazy good in Spezza's absence, but they are still 1-2-1 in their last four.

Let me break it down for you then.
It's tougher sledding without Spezza. While Karlsson has logged a ton of ice time he only has 2 points in his last 4 games and the Sens are 1-2-1. In his previous 7 games, he had 7 points and the team was 5-1-1. Points is tougher to get without a top C. Probably should have posted the above in my original post! |

Bottom line, Karlsson is the best defenseman the NHL has seen since Lidstrom. Goodnight everyone. |

Hahaha, one last post before shuttin er down, I knew this fool would come in here. While AP is great, he is not in Karlsson's class. Nobody is. There is no D in the NHL with the same level of skill and impact on each game. Period. Enough with this Pietrangelo bullshit. With Karlsson's D-zone play now above average, it's not close who is the best D in the league. Not Weber (lol 1 point), not AP, not Chara. It's Karlsson. He's approaching Bobby Orr, Denis Potvin territory. It's scary how good he is at such a young age. Nobody is better on the ice when he's playing. And I've never even been a huge Karlsson guy to be honest.
To the haters, just watch him play. Oh and Dave King (assistant coach for Carolina) just called him the best player in the NHL. There, done. Peace. |

He's one of the few defensemen to whom the label "power play quarterback" actually applies. Which isn't to say he's only good on the power play but rather to point out that most defensemen that play on the power play don't actually quarterback shit.
