The bit of the deal that seems really good to me is trading Vlasic to get Shea Weber. I think Seguin has a higher point upside than Couture does. As far as FOW goes, I think that Seguin can improve this area of his game easier than Couture could get better at scoring.

Seguin => Couture
Shea friggin Weber >> Vlasic

Good deal to take.

That does change things up a bit as Seguin does not take many face-offs in Boston, he plays mainly on the wing. So Couture is probably worth more or at least even with Seguin going forward this year.

Seeing your scoring system definitely helps. It's odd to see a league that doesn't differentiate forward positions but counts FOWs. It definitely means stockpiling centerman is a great strategy.

Like Atomic_Wedgy said though, Weber is the clincher here. He may still be getting used to life without Suter but eventually those points will come. That upgrade far outweighs any potential loss from Couture to Seguin.

yeah I'd snap that up...I like Couture and all but you win this one pretty handily

I'm not actually sure - to help gauge how your scoring system in total affects their values, can you list the fantasy points for each player based on last season's production. I wonder if FOW is even more important than the perceived wide margin on defence. Being a H2H points league, it doesn't matter where the points come from.

Horrorfan - that's exactly what I'm thinking and what's holding me up. So the total points all 4 players scored in 2012 for my leagues settings:

Couture - 438.1 Seguin - 310.2
Vlasic - 120.8 Weber - 323.3

I guess looking at that shows Weber will/can make up for anything I lose from Coutures FOW. My worry is I don't know these players so I'm depending on research to tell me that Weber is really that good. As you can imagine a rook like me looks at Weber and wonders why I should do this.

Technically this trade is Couture for Seguin and Weber. Vlasic was a FA pick up that I could care less about.

Another side is do I need to worry about defense? I have Letabg, Byfuglien & Edler.

That helps, thanks. Even with a slightly lower pro-rated production for Weber, I'd do that deal. Also consider that what's done is done, so you'll only get production from this point forward. The fact that you have gotten a great start out of Couture should help here, especially if Seguin can take a step up in production. And you will reap the benefits once Weber snaps out of his funk. So the FOW Couture gains does not outweigh the likely gains from acquiring Weber IMO.

Weber, Letang, Byfuglien, Edler.... no. No you do not have to worry about defense. You are stacked!
