If your team didn't have such a drop off in talent after those two and your studs, I would do it. But since you don't, I would pass. I also look at it from the perspective of Granlund being the future face of Minnesota and Tarasenko being the face of the Blues. Both of these guys are SUPREMELY talented and will be surrounded by a cast of forwards that should help them reach their peak which is what you hope for. I truly believe Minnesota and St. Louis are primed to be two of the better scoring teams down the road. That should lead to stupid points from both of these guys. They will eventually dwarf Backstrom's production. These two should be 2 of your 7 keepers.

I would do the deal, cause I consider Backstrom to be the best player involved. Backstrom's just 25, and has a proven track record.Tarasenko and Granlund LIKELY will live up to their potential, but there' still the chance that they don't.

True. I wouldn't fault anyone for taking the deal. I just don't like the idea of giving up TWO franchise players for one player, albeit Backstrom, especially with what he has left to chose from as far as his keepers. Sometimes when we receive an offer, we have to remember, the other guy is basically saying that he prefers to have what you possess instead of keeping what he owns. To me, that is one factor to consider as well as your team needs. As far as Backstrom goes, I totally get track-records, especially with proven vs. unproven, which is the case here. And normally, I would agree. However, this is one of those rare cases I don't because of the drop off in talent with his keepers afterward. We both seem to agree that there is a HIGH likelihood that Gran and Tara either fulfill or come close to reaching thei potential. If they do, their production is going to be substantial to that of Backstrom's alone.

I am with One87 here. I think that what those 2 offer you down the road is worth staying put.

Backstrom is one of my personal favs but I would step away from this deal immediately. Backstrom is an elite talent but the Caps scare me to death and have for the last 2 years. I am afraid Backstrom will be a steady dose of 75-90 from this point on and Tarasenko could be a 70 point threat himself, as well as Granlund. J.Johnson has 48-55 point D-Man written all over him. No dice.
