I have to admit that I know nothing about this kid. He seems to be a nice talent that fits into OTT's top 6. Is that going to continue? What do you see in terms of production for the coming 3 years? Is he eventually going to be a 60+ pts producer in the NHL?
I currently have Laich as my worst forward on my team (not same as in sig but very similar scoring format). Is it worth getting rid of Laich for Greening? Thanks

Greening will probably bounce from lines one to three all year (if there is a year...), but going forward I see him being squeezed out of the top six pretty soon. Spezza, Michalek, Turris, Silfverberg, Alfie (this year), possibly Latendresse, Stone and Zibanejad. In short, Greening has his work cut out for him.
He worked well with Spezza and Michalek because he was the digger and net presence guy for that line. Actually I see a lot of similarities between him and Laich. Laich is crazy versatile and that's where I see Greening pretty soon. The only difference is that Laich has more experience and is older. That's both a plus and a minus for both players. Since they can hold their own with defensive assignments, that will take from their offensive starts. On the other hand they will be used in plenty of situations, which ups the chance of production. I don't think I'd drop Laich to get my hands on Greening at this point. Washington is going offensive and there are question marks about their top six where Laich has performed well before. Even if he doesn't play in the top six at even strength, he gets enough power play time as a net front guy to get a pretty good amount of points.

Agree with sentium on not dropping Laich for Greening.
Not to mention that if your settings are similar to the one in your sig as you said, then Laich has some good value from the peripheral front as well. |

In a full multi-cat where hits, blocks and pim count the same as goals or assists, he's effing gold. Otherwise, not so much.

Laich is a workhorse in Washington and a "go-to" guy in all situations. I wouldn't drop him for the unproven Greening, who has a plethora of young talent at forward to compete with for top six icetime/PP time. Greening has some skill but will more than likely fit better as a solid 3rd line player who can step up to a scoring line occasionally. I wouldn't ever expect him to hit 50 pts, let alone 60+.

The only thing I'd add that hasn't already been said is that Greening has a phenomenal hockey IQ. In fact, he's an ivy league graduate and his coaches constantly remark on how quickly he's able to read situations and adapt on the ice including learning from his mistakes.
He's come a long way in a short amount of time and I think he's only going to get better. The one problem is that Ottawa is about to have an influx of some top rookie forwards that might eat up some of his icetime

Not offensive enough. Puck keeps dying on his stick.
