My initial thoughts are a solid..."No".

With your cats, and the ability Kassian has shown so far, I don't think it's worth the gamble. Neither Kunitz nor Carle are protectable in your format and Kassian could very well be. Plus, he wants to get the better pick...nope for me.

I agree with the above post. Kassian's true value is going to be in leagues where hits are counted, and perhaps if PIM are given more than a standard value too. Carle's going to be getting a solid number of points in TB and Kunitz should soon pick it up offensively. He's been solid on Pitt's top lines in recent years. You can do better.

Well, I accepted the trade Friday night before reading both of your post and I think I did the right move. Chris Kunitz got 3 pts yesterday incl. game winning goal. Carle also got 2 pts incl. 1 on the power play. This helps my depth at Util. & Upgrade my D if Carle can finaly put up great numbers this years. The only downside is that I traded my 3rd pick for his 4th pick as I would have probably not kept Kassian as my 10th keeper.

Kunitz hat-trick today. Smart move!

I don't know why people hate on Kunitz, consistent numbers, plays on the #1 line and #1 PP line. In your format it works well. Even if you had hits in your cats he is a nice contributor there as well. Now, I am biased since I have him in 2 pools, but nothing wrong with supporting cast players!

I don't think it's a 'hate on' for Kunitz. There's no disputing he's a valuable fantasy asset. In terms of a keeper pool....he's not a guy I'd target. His age (34), and the way he plays (hard nosed style) make him a sure bet to miss games via injury. I just think Kassian has more upside and could possibly be the ony true 'keeper' in the deal. Short term.....The Great one wins for sure.
