You're right, it was his 2nd career goal in his 3rd career game he's practically a grizzled vet. He tied it with 1 second left against the reigning Cup champs, and he's 18 years old, in his 3rd ever game. I just can't understand why there's no leeway for a little excitement here from a kid. Sliding on his knees was awesome, the face-palming was a little weird but whatever it's how he reacted kids are over-dramatic.

It works perfectly. Horcoff doesn't remember what scoring a goal is like, so while he was racking his brain trying to remember, Yakupov just emulated his vacant stare and total lack of movement. Voila!

Sources tell me that appropriate goal celebrating protocol will be a big part of the next CBA negotiation.

jesus man, why is everything so absolute with you? no one is trying to say the kid can't celebrate an important goal, all we're saying is show a little class and humility, you don't need to go flopping on the ice like an idiot to celebrate a goal.

I dug up an old vid for you from a game I remember all too well as a kid. This is Gretzky scoring a hatrick to lead his Oilers to their very first playoff series win against the vaunted Montreal Canadiens. Pay close attention to the lack of ice floppage and douchey histrionics here, you might learn something junior

I want someone to hide a sharpie in end of the shaft of their stick and when they score, pull it out, sign the puck, and toss it to a fan.

Or, barring that, skate by the opposing bench doing th D-X 'Suck-it' gesture from the WWE.

If you want to complain about classless behaviour we can still go a long way down that road.

You mean kind of like Marchand's golf swing when he skated by the Leafs bench last season?

I think it's pretty ridiculous to hold everyone to Gretzky's standard. He wasn't as expressive as others but it's not like Fleury or Yakupov are harming anyone/anything while doing their thing. They're not pointing at the opposing bench taunting them. It just happens and then it's over. I don't see what is disrespectful about it aside from a so-called code of honor which gets invented on-the-fly at Don Cherry's convenience.

How about when you play the Stars an opposing player skates to the center ice, looks up to the heavens and spreads their arms out?

Good examples... how about if the 5 guys on the ice (or 4 if it is a shorty) line up and do the Gangnam style horse dance as they go past the benches?

Screw it, the problem isn't that people go too far... the problem is that they don't go far enough!
