I think that we have to look at Ovechkin from a predraft perspective, if we are looking for what is fair value.

In Multicat he is probably still drafted top 5, so his value hasn't really changed.

But the big change lies in points leagues, potentially. The question is, taking goalies and defense out of it, where does he get drafted if the draft was today? Obviously, the top three are Crosby, Malkin, and Stamkos. But where does it go after that? The next forward names that should go are Giroux, Tavares, Sedin's...

If I was doing our points only keeper draft today, I would probably pick like this (top 10):

Stamkos
Crosby
Giroux
Tavares
Ovechkin
H.Sedin
D.Sedin
Backstrom
Kovalchuk

Leaving Kane, Kopitar, Toews, Neal, Parise, Benn, Spezza, .... on the outside looking in. All of them could be argued to be in the 9 or 10 spot.

Am I naive to think that Ovechkin is still a top 10 points only talent?
Does anyone move any of the "outsiders" into Ovie's spot?

I am wrestling with the valuation right now, if you look into my "Everyone wants my Benn" thread. I have been chasing Ovie for a while, he is just making it a lot tougher to determine what he's really worth.
