Before offering Zidlicky, I may still be able to move him to another team that has more to offer in return, I had offered Kovalev and Paul Martin, as the guy with Sykora is weak on defense.
First he asked if I might give up Hartnell or Cheechoo for Sykora, but I didn\'t like giving up the youth. I am always in position to win our pool, yet I am sort of re-building in terms of making my team younger to be dominanat starting as ealry as the next couple seasons. After I declined Hartnell or Cheechoo, he is asking for Vyborny or Saku Koivu? What do you think? |

Ya know I\'m totally not sold on Sykora....
How many times have we seen the \"leaves you lookin for more.. movie with him\"? Last yr he roared outa the gates then sputtered out. Seems to me he leaves all his previous teams kinda under a cloud. He\'s had some good line mates in the past too. I have him pegged as the chronic underachiever guy I guess.

Thanks for the feedback.
The more I thought about it last night, the more I liked the idea of giving up Vyborny for Sykora. Vyborny is a lock for 60-65 points most seasons but has never broiken through the 70 point ceiling. Sykora has in the past done a PPG in his early days with Jersey so the potential is there, plus Pittsburgh\'s system will be more offensive than Hitchcocks. |

I think Sykora could have a really big year (maybe even 85 points) if he clicks with Crosby or Malkin...........Lately, I\'ve had relatively low expectations of players who one might choose because of linemates (the Berniers and Ekmans make this risky business), BUT I like Sykora\'s ability. Playing with Elias in N.J., Sykora showed that he has serious offensive skills.
There\'s certainly some risk, though. If Sykora were to end up in the doghouse and on the third or fourth line, he might be a 40 point guy at best.......Then you\'d be kicking yourself for passing on the consistent 60 pointers that lack upside in their current situations (Satan, Vyborny, etc.)................Still, I\'d go with Sykora. If Sykora starts this season like he did last season (first month and a half), he\'ll be playing with Crosby for sure. On an unrelated note....... When the free agency period opened, I thought the Devils should\'ve made a pitch for Sykora. I watched a lot of N.J. games last year (the Centre Ice package RULES), as I owned Gomez, Gionta and Elias in one of my pools last year -- that team was seriously challenged offensively last year.....and that line never really got going with injuries to all three. Another weapon, like Sykora, to go along with Parise would\'ve helped...... Now Gomez and Rafalski are both gone........Lots of questions in N.J. Post edited by: flanders, at: 2007/07/09 16:16

I decided in the end I have other steady 60 point guys to replace Vyborny\'s production should Sykora fail to stick on the top 2 lines. I figured it was worth the risk as he has the potential for 80 points where I don\'t think Vyborny will crack 70.
I took the chance with Ekman last year too, so I am hoping that after a second full year for Crosby and a year in the NHL for Malkin, that the Penguins have a better feel for what type of players will click with these two guys. |

Good luck with that deal..with some guys I look at the team their going to but some guys just seem to make that irrelevant.
