The owner of Sykora in our keeper league has made it known that Sykora is available. He should produce well, but they are starting to have an overflow of forwards and only so many spots on the top two lines with Crosby and Malkin.

I can probably get him at a good price. He needs defense and I can offer him Zidlicky who is also a bit of a wildcard coming off a bad season, but also has renewed life with Timonen in Philly.

I dont know that Sykora will get to many points with Pittsburgh. He may at most play on the second line and will likely not see much power play time with crosby and malkin. Maybe 2nd power play unit with staal and armstrong. I would maybe stick with zidlicky considering sykora seems to be jumping everywhere lately and could get traded at any time anyways.

That\'s my fear is that Zidlicky will rebound with a 45+ point season. I am intrigued by what Sykora could do. If Recchi almost hit 70 pts, Sykora is 8 or 9 years younger.

Maybe I\'ll offer him an older forward that I can spare (like Kovalev) and a younger defenseman (like Paul Martin). Maybe I can squeeze a draft pick out of him too.

I disagree. Shero\'s stated that Sykora will definitely be on the powerplay, and that he\'s not sure which of Malkin/Crosby he\'ll play with (that\'s a coaching decision) but that he\'ll definitely play with one of the two.

If you\'re set on defense, then I\'d go with Sykora. I bet it\'ll be easier to find a D-man that matches Zidlicky\'s performance than the ceiling on Sykora with Crosby/Malkin on his line.

I think he will click with Crosby from watching the two of them play. I see even bigger numbers from Crosby with a very talented Petr Sykora to play with. Not to mention more for Sykora.

Putting 2 guys that can eat up 1 on 1 coverage makes it nearly impossible to cover them both.

Personally, I would trade Zidlicky for Sykora. Sykora is only 30 years old and had 53 points last year with Jersey. His potential with Pittsburgh far exceeds 53 points. I am not good with \'the future thing\' but it wouldn\'t surprise me to see him with 80 points. He will be playing with two of the top 3 players in the world!

As mentioned previously, you will be able to replace Zidlicky.

Are you trying to win this season? If so, I would see if you can get a pick along with Sykora. He should be very successful this season in Pittsburgh.
