So...can anyone tell me what the deal is with this guy? I put a waiver claim in for him in case he gets called up to the Islanders. His stats are pretty sick, and seeing how thin the Islanders are on D, I can't believe I haven't heard more about him.
Any info would be appreciated.

I doubt he'll be called up to the Islanders any time soon.....he's come a long ways in his development to the point where I believe he might have a future in the NHL, but it won't be for a few more years at least. He's an incredibly smart player in the offensive zone, and his defense has come around to the point where it's good in junior, should be passable at the NHL level with some more time.

If you have enough room on your farm he's worth a spot. But don't hold your breath on him making an impact this season or anything.

Don't waste your waiver claim as Islanders actually can't call him up during this season as Kichton doesn't have NHL contract. The fact that Islanders could have signed Kichton in the last summer and sent him to play in the AHL this season is pretty bad sign how he's looked at in the organization. Generally NHL teams sign every even half-decent prospect and send them to the AHL/ECHL if they have that option instead of sending them back to the CHL. I wouldn't be surprised if Islanders don't even sign Kichton next off-season so expecting him to be in the NHL even in 3 years time would probably be somewhat optimistic. Something like AHL next season, AHL/NHL split the next and then full NHL role is about most optimistic you could reasonably expect. I wouldn't use your waiver claim unless you are prepared to wait 2 years at the minimum.
