Default Briere & Gagne

Now that Briere is in Philadelphia and Gagne has a new #1 center, how well do you think they\'ll play together next year? What kind of sats do you expect these two will put up? Can Gagne finally break 50g? Will Briere get over 90 points again? More importantly, do you think either will finish with a +/- over 0 after all of the changes this team has undergone?

I feel like Gagne will finally break the magical 50 goal mark. Briere may crack 90 points, but he\'s as likely to crack a bone and miss 25-30 games. He\'s a little brittle. I don\'t expect much improvement in the +/- department.

With the type of players Philly has acquired, they certainly look like they will be playing a tight checking, hard forechecking game. They will have the tools to be lethal on the PP and should be great on the PK.

It should be fun to watch the Flyers again. Holmgren has done what he had to in order to field a competitive team. Yes we can nit pick about the length of the deals, but what\'s the average life expectancy of an NHL GM? Two years? They can\'t care about 5-8 years down the road because they\'ll be with another organization by then!

If I was a Briere owner I would be ‘selling’ as fast as I can right now because I think his value could take a big hit next year. All this talk about him being one of the great players in the NHL is based on the last 2 years only (by the way, in those two years he missed 35 games). Now yes, the NHL has changed in those last two years to allow smaller players to succeed (but it is changing back) but I am still scared that Briere is not better then a PPG player.

In the last two years Briere was on the best team in the NHL. A team which chose to play a ‘run and gun’ style of offence. Until I see he can play like a 95 points player in somewhere other then Buffalo I will be staying away.

Although Briere and Gagne owners can dream of big points I am not convinced either of them will break 80 points next year. That is just my opinion.
