Default Getzlaf/Perry for my Ovechkin

The pool is in my sig...no positional requirements and points only. I'm in a pretty strong position to win this year and adding 2 possible PPG players would really help my chances of contending. Ovi has top end "pedigree", but hasn't shown much yet.

Any strong Ovechkin believers still? I know I'm dealing the better player [at least I think I still am]. At least the guy didn't low-ball me.

I'd do that before he has a chance to second guess himself. That's the type of deal that seems like it may put you over the top. Will you be able to end up keeping both? If so, it's a win win for you.

Good Luck!

If you're in contention I'd definitely take that deal. I'm an Ovie guy too, I have him in most of my leagues. With Crosby already on your team and the addition of Perry as a keeper replacement for Ovie, I think you're safe and this definitely improves you in the short term.

Plus, if Ovie has another season like last year, you'd probably never be able to get this much for him again.

The plan is to have an additional GM join us via expansion this coming off-season so we'll protect 8 + 1 prospect and the new GM can take 2 unprotected players off of each roster.

There are certain players I don't want to lose for nothing so acquiring 2 players for 1 will necessitate some additional moves...I plan to trade 1 of my 3 G [they're too valuable to lose for nothing] and this type of trade for AO would probably push me to trade JJ [who looks to be in tough to scores b/c of lack of offensive punch on a pretty sad CLB team].

Then my 8 protects would be Crosby/Backstrom/Getzlaf/Perry at F, Byfuglien/Letang on D, and Rask + 1 of Price/Fleury.

I would take this trade.
Ovechkin is nothing special in points-only.

Crosby, Backstrom, Getzlaf, Perry, (Pavelski)
Byfuglien, Letang
Rask (Fleury or Price)

I see these as your 8 keepers.
I'm not sure I'd keep either Price or Fleury in a 9-team league.
I personally have loved Pavelski for a long-long-long time. Finally seeing it big-time right now. His hockey-sense is probably top 50 in the NHL.

I'd do it. Perry could be better this year alone.

We'll still get to keep 10 + 3 prospects, but not before the expansion GM gets to take 1 unprotected player and up to 1 prospect eligible player off of each roster.

I appreciate your input on Pavelski vs. a 2nd G. I guess the one thing is that GMs who are losing the pool are always willing to trade depth F [which are plentiful...60-70 point players...above 75 and they're probably keeping them]. Depth G that actually have 65 points or more are almost impossible to find on the waiver wire or via trade. My temptation to keep a 2nd G is due to the scarcity of points at that position and Fleury is on a win-machine team [and my pool doesn't count peripherals] and Price is 70 game starter [even if regulation losses are a -1 he's topped 70 points in my pool a few years ago].

Anyway it sounds like overall this is a deal I should definitely pursue. Out of curiosity I think Getzlaf [if healthy] is a PPG [80-90] point player on just about any team in the league. With contracts up in the air where does everyone peg Perry [assuming he and Getzlaf may not play together next year]? Do I peg him as a 75 point player with occasional upside?
