Default When to cut bait?

I have a few prospects who I've been hanging onto and Im beginning to wonder if they'll ever pan out as NHLers:

Jacob Josefson (Over 82GP Prospect Limit)
Louis LeBlanc
Dustin Jeffrey

Im also carrying over-agers: Andre Benoit and Jeff Zatkoff

Which, if any, of these guys should I continue to hold onto?

This is always a tough question. Nobody knows your league, team, or competition like you do. What direction and strategy are you taking your team?

There are many factors to consider when letting go of prospects that have been on your team. I think you have to rank all of your prospects, determine your expectations and identify where those prospects fit in your long term plans. Look at your current roster and determine where they will fit and who they will replace.

If those prospects rank on the top of your rankings then be patient. If they are on the bottom then look to replace them with better quality. Work to build a sustainable elite prospect pool.

Don't hold on in hopes if you already feel your previous expectations have significantly dropped. Prospect expectations consistently change because they are young and still developing. Never look back. When you do, you tend to only focus on the ones that got away rather than looking at all the ones you successfully let go.

All of us have given up to soon on some prospects at some point.

Great advice! I am just getting worried about former first round selections LeBlanc and Josefson. Im mainly looking for an assessment on those two in particular

I dont see Jeffrey having an NHL role with Pittsburgh outside the bottom six but I know he has the potential to score if given the opportunity.

My opinion on prospects is that they are just prospects. Unless you have an elite level prospects do not pass up a prospect of equal value for a prospect you have had for a number of seasons. The 3 prospects you mentioned I have had on my team as well but have changed them up a number of years ago. Just look at prospects this year that are producing that you could have over any of the 3 you listed.
